“To Clean Children’s White Kid Shoes”
Dat’s raciss!
ROFL!!!
he was so funny before he showed his true colors!!
This movie, Sleeper, Play it Again Sam, Annie Hall, Love and Death, Broadway Danny Rose. Even up to Manhattan Murder Mystery.
Then he cracked.
Maybe you’re getting fake Ivory. The bars I get float.
Ivory Soap under my fitted sheet is the first thing that has ever alleviated my Restless Leg Syndrome and nighttime cramping. I really don’t care why!!
Bkmrk.
:....shed rake it across our teeth “
Same technique my mom used, very effective.
Before going off to BCT at Fort Knox (age 19) I was warned not to drop it in the shower.
I can attest to the fact that Ivory Soap is effective against leg cramps.
Suffered with leg cramps for years..so very painful....started taking Biotin daily and put 2 bars of Ivory Soap in bed, placed near the area where I get cramps.
Stopped the cramps.... very rarely, a very mild one will happen, but it is very mild.
It is important that the soap be changed every 3-4 weeks. A couple of times I hadn’t changed the soap in a month and the cramps started up again.
Maybe it is all in my head, but Ivory soap is only $1.25 for 3 bars at Walmart.. just put in my your soap dish when you are done!
“From now on, everyone under 16, is now 16” :)
“Underwear will be worn on the outside so we can check”
Hysterical movie!!!
I don’t know how many years I’ve used Ivory, still do and it still floats. Never knew about any of these recipes though, bath and shower is all I’ve ever used it for.
My grandmother had an interesting alternative use for another common item.
For a little background, we had a big family, my father had 3 brothers and 4 sisters, most were there plus a half dozen grandkids and at least 2 cousins.
We were all talking one day and birth control pills were mentioned, being in the news a lot at that time (1970’s). She said she had been using birth control pills for many years. Everyone looked at her like she was crazy, that was a fairly new invention, only a few years old at best. Somebody took the bait, OK what are you talking about?
An aspirin held firmly between the knees.
I still chuckle thinking about it...
Ah yes, the IVORY SNOW GIRL! She went on to bigger things! I remember that scandal!
one of the best uses is an excuse to post pix of Marilyn Chambers.
“Cleaning Brass and Copper [no. 1,603
Dip cloth in lemon juice, then rub it on a cake of Ivory Soap and scour the article thoroughly, using more lemon juice and soap as needed. When soap is dry, polish well with a clean, soft cloth; rinse in hot water and dry. The polish will last an unusually long time.”
“To Clean Floors [no. 13,168
To renovate studio and school room floors that have been waxed and have had hard usage:
To a quart of gasoline add ^ of a cake of Ivory Soap, or less, that has been previously melted, or shaved and let stand 24 hours. Apply with a cloth, sparingly and quickly. This will not only clean the floor, but will leave a satin finish that will be dry in a short while and will save much time in waxing and polishing.
It is unnecessary to add the caution not to use in a room where there is a fire.”
Most of the rest are great, but I think that I’ll pass on that one even though no one ever smokes in my house.
Still...just knowing that simple formula could be very useful in certain future circumstances.
I liked the taste of Ivory so well I built up quite a vocabulary of verboten words. :^)
"Mom, I hungry"
You'll have to wait til dinner"
"Son of a b!%#h!"
"Johnny, get in here. I'm gonna wash your mouth soap"!
(grin)
Ralphie:
"Over the years I got to be quite a connoisseur of soap. My personal preference was for Lux, but I found Palmolive had a nice, piquant after-dinner flavor - heady, but with just a touch of mellow smoothness. Life Buoy, on the other hand..."
