FULL TITLE: How to cope with 'white fragility': Academic sells out her $60 workshops designed to improve Caucasians' 'low emotional tolerance for discussing racism'
An academic and author is offering courses for white people teaching them how to cope with their 'white fragility' - and tickets for the lectures have sold out.
The City of Seattle is offering the class through its Office of Arts and Culture, with Dr. Robin DiAngelo taking students through the course.
The workshops, which cost $60 to attend and had its first four-hour session on Wednesday night, focus on: 'the specific way that racism manifests through White Fragility and provides the perspectives and skills needed for white people to have more constructive cross-racial interactions'.
The Office of Arts and Culture also defines 'white fragility' as: 'the inability for white people to tolerate racial stress.'
'White people in the U.S. live in a racially insular social environment,' a description on its website reads.
'Because these racial perspectives are so rarely challenged within this environment, white people have not had to develop the stamina needed to tolerate racial stress.
'When white people are challenged in cross-racial interactions, White Fragility triggers a range of defensive moves including: argumentation, invalidation, silence, withdrawal and claims of being attacked and unsafe.

No fragility in talking about racism here: The NAACP is a racist organization, the Congressional Black Caucus is a racist organization, and Black Lives Matter is a VERY racist organization.

Let me guess, if you argue with any claims, no matter how outrageous, that’s a symptom. If you shut up and don’t argue, that’s a symptom. I bet if you agree, that’s some sort of co-opting maneuver that is also a symptom, and in fact, there is no correct response to accusations of racism except abject apology followed by suicide.
“Sell out” is the operative term.
How about answering, “So what! I don’t care!”
No matter what you say they’re going to brand you a racist, just agree and tell them you just don’t care!
If “racism” has been reduced to a single attribute of skin “color” along a one dimensional brightness axis, there’s nothing to discuss. Everyone is neither black nor white.

So we’re supposed to develop “a high emotional tolerance for discussing racism,” but we’re not allowed to use that two-syllable word that America’s indigenous urban people call each other fifteen times a minute?
I wonder if Teach wears spiked heels, walks on the student’s bare backs, and beats them with a crop.
The course needed nowadays is White Appreciation 101. Does not the entire world benefit from white folk inventions & accomplishments? Who discovered almost all cures for disease? Invented cars, planes, trains, computers, submarines, radios, wireless tech, printing press, rocket ships, and on and on? How about a ‘thank you’?
Does that include Hispanics?
I'm retired now so I don't know how much affirmative action hiring and promotion based on race is going on now days. Has it switched to gayness?
