A Team GB athlete has been robbed at gunpoint in Rio while on a night out and officials could impose an outright ban on partying in the city 'after dark', it was revealed today. The incident, which happened in the early hours of Tuesday morning, has led to a warning that it is 'not worth the risk' to leave the athletes village, or wander around in their Team GB branded kit. The athlete, who has not yet been named, is believed to be in shock but was uninjured after being robbed by the gunman.

Another one?
Will the authorities yank his passport and yank him off the plane in a fit of machismo anger at insulting their crummy country?
Quick - detain the victim
In Rio, cops are criminals too.
Adds credence to our own athletes statements - Rio is using the Olympics to try to gain some crooked judge’s power over the USA so it has bragging rights as the most insignificant entity to force us to our knees - yay Obama.....
Next up is the imprisonment of the spectator who advised shocking the green pool.
Sure am glad I or loved ones are not there, because from here all these 3rd world antics are very entertaining.
This athlete and the American swimmers are lucky they’re not dead. The uncle of a good friend of mine in Rio was shot and killed in a robbery a few years ago. Same sort of thing happens every day there. The spectacular scenery, and it is unbelievable, is matched by the spectacularly dangerous streets. Everybody who visits Rio is warned never to go out walking at night. It would be safer to walk into a tiger cage with raw meat draped over your neck.
I have a friend that lives in Brazil and he says Rio is by far the most unsafe place in the country. Crazy to have the Olympics there, IMO.
When the brazilians start working for a living and stop trying to make their living off “rich Anglos” they will begin to amount to something.
Brazil still has peoples who will eat you. Any more questions?
A business associate, his wife and another couple visited Rio on vacation some years ago. 15 minutes after hitting the beach, he was relieved of his wallet and wristwatch at gunpoint.
Actually it is probably a relief that the olympics are in Tokyo next time. Just avoid the sushi made from the fish with the poison sac. All will be OK.
I are glad you am not there too.
Are the Olympic Games on? I’m surprised I haven’t read about it taking place - thought it was last year or sumpin
Sounds like the Rio Olympics have officially become the Hunger Games.
I’ve also seen it reported now that the entire city smells like an open sewer. No mention of it early on so as not to spoil the ratings.
The Rio cops are all upset they didn’t think to yank the American athletes’ passports for publicly exposing their robbery at gunpoint a few days ago.
What’s the percent of take do the cops get off these muggings?
All these stores about being robbed at gunpoint are obvious fakes. Everyone knows it is impossible to own a gun in Brazil - the entire country is a gun free zone.
