And order has been made to seize American swimmer Ryan Lochte's passport by Brazilian authorities after claims he 'lied about being robbed.'
Earlier police had further questions for the swimmer - a 12-time Olympic medallist - about the supposed robbery and found 'little evidence' that it had taken place.
Lochte claims that he and three of his team-mates were robbed at gunpoint in a taxi, but police say the swimmers were unable to provide key details in police interviews.
Lochtes attorney, Jeff Ostrow, said there was no question the robbery happened and that the swimmer had 24-hour security hired after the incident.

Well, I’ve had loads of fun there but that was ages ago. Colombia, Argentina, Mexico, the islands, even Paraguay which I cannot recommend but I got some amazing shopping deals. Colombia was the brightest gem having seen how much better it was than my expectations after decades of the media telling me how horrible it was. Mexico was fun as a kid but I would never go back now. Brasil? My friends are constantly sending me invites to some of the protest groups they run with and if they are doing that stuff you know it is about to burn... Glad I went there when I did because I don’t think I could do it safely now and it was dangerous back then. Such a pity I had so many hopes for them. Colombia is the only nation positioned for growth and their current leader has destroyed Uribes progress and caved to the farm socialists. So very tragic.
Damn you spell checker....”Farc socialists”...
I assume they mean there are security cameras where the athletes unload their pockets into trays, etc.
I still believe Lochte...just pointing out that the alleged evidence it was a ruse completely negates the possibility that he somehow lost his wallet in an embarrassing situation.
You can actually get some pretty decent looking watches at the airport for ten bucks.
I think Lochte and friends were indeed wearing nice watches...and I’d bet their cab driver texted the robbers, to let them know that.
Breitling, very impressive. But what on earth does that watch tell you that you need to know?
Who are you referring to? Thanks.

Ship sailed around SA to change home ports in 89; carrier too big to fit through the canal. Venezuela, Chile, Rio, Acapulco, all very nice liberty calls for a single sailor, and you’re right, got some great shopping deals, exchange rate was awesome. Used cash; those who charged purchases got a big surprise when the bill came after the exchange rate went up.
"However, Jeff Ostrow, Lochtes attorney, told TMZ the swimmer was back in the US.
He added: "I have no information from Brazilian authorities that they want his passport."
I use it while boating. It tells me under a given sea/wind condition how long I can run on the available fuel. In this age of GPS’s and all of that it will calculate it for you. I bought mine 20+ years ago before all of that was available.
Divers use it, and pilots too.
I am one of those people who grew up wearing a watch. I have always worn one, and always will.
The Breitling is worth every penny.
If you’re getting your money’s worth out of it, good.
I’m on my third cheap Casio. Day/Date/Time. I had one a while back that also had the Year. I was working shiftwork then and believe it or not, that came in handy.
I've been reading in comment sections, on this story, of this happening to other American tourists in Brazil. Sounds like a corrupt police and judicial system in Brazil.
I'm glad Lochte was able to make it out before he got railroaded by their corrupt system. I hope the other swimmers got out of there before that happens to them too.

I go with Wal-Mart Armatrons + flea market batteries. $12 for the watch and $2 for a lifetime of replacement batteries. Heck, I still got 2 x 30m water-resistant digital watches going on 10 years now.
I only wear them on weekends cuz I work around computers and clocks all day.
So the swimmers don’t get to stay and go to the closing ceremonies?
That doesn’t seem right!

I thought two were detained.
