It is the end of an era in Las Vegas as one of the most famed hotels and casinos on the Strip was demolished in the early morning hours of Tuesday. The final tower of the Riviera was reduced to little more than rubble a little over a year after the city's first high-end casino shut its doors in May of last year. Long known as a classic mob joint featured in films such as Oceans 11 and Diamonds are Forever, the Riviera also hosted the residences of famed Vegas performances including Liberace and Dean Martin during its heyday.

My wife and I don’t drink, smoke or gamble, but we are going to retire there just as soon as our home and property sell.
People think that we are nuts but we are tired of the constant gray, rain, drizzle and snow that we have for nine or ten months in western Oregon. We want to live in the desert and see the sun and palm trees.
Las Vegas has palm trees, sun, great shows and restaurants. Besides, I could watch the Bellagio fountains by the hour. There are some great homes away from the strip that are low crime. We look forward to spending our time next to the pool with a good book and cool refreshments.
My wife wants to travel but I don’t think that I am going to want to leave.
In the 30 years we’ve been going to Vegas, I think we have paid for a grand total of 2 nights for a hotel. That was only because, two times we had three free nights at the Venetian, wanted to stay for 4 and didn’t want to move.
On one trip, we had a free room at Ceasar’s (Where we were staying) AND at the Venetian... (where we gamble a lot and like the pool).
It was a trip. Of course, I had to convince the wifey that we had to “break in” both beds! :-)
lol yes, I remember that smell... it permeated even out to the sidewalk in front of it.
They’ve REALLY done a nice job, IMO, with the Quad and the shopping strip to the Lync. Makes it a place worthy of visiting again.
The QUAD is actually one of the best places to watch NFL games now... although, you have to get there VERY early to get a chair... And, you might well have to fight to hold it.

Great minds think alike. Even if you only hit 1 show a month and two restaurants you would be busy for years. Plus, the weather is always awesome. I can’t wait to put the NE winters and taxes behind me. 4 years to go.
Howdy, DeSoto,
Did you sell your farm in Salem yet, and move to Vegas?
I used to live in Vegas, I loved it...even though I don’t gamble.
We just had an amazing winter snow storm, most snow in over a hundred years!
See ya’,
Ed
Not yet but soon I hope. I sent you a PM.
