PEARLAND, TEXAS - The state of Texas heads to court on Friday to defend its bid to block the Obama administration’s recent guidance that said public schools should allow transgender students to use restrooms according to their gender identity.
It’s not just lawmakers who are fighting over the issue -- it’s the people who are living it every day, including a 4-year-old and her mother in Pearland.
As soon as she could, Kai Shappley gravitated towards dresses and dolls. But even though she was born a boy named Joseph Paul, she made it clear what she identified as.
“By age 3, she was verbalizing, 'I’m a girl, you know I’m a girl,'” said Kimberly Shappley, Kai’s mother.

The child does not have an illness. HE is being used by a crazy parent.
Apparently no husband or father in the picture to counteract the influence of this deranged woman. This troubled little boy would be better off in foster care than with her.
Because nothing says “I respect you and don’t want to inconvenience anyone” like making all normal children fear for their safety by opening up their most private moments to sexual predators being allowed access to children with their pants around their ankles.

4 years old??!! This seems like child abuse. The decision to reject your birth gender should not be made at such a young age, unless the child is of ‘ambiguous sexuality’(aka Hermaphrodite), and I don’t think this is such a case. Is there no father in the picture? Now the mom has publicized this child’s dilema , parading him around in drag?. What is that ailment when a parent derives ego satisfaction from keeping a child who never gets fully well? Munchausen by Proxy Syndrome, that’s the name I’m looking for.

So, this mother really really wanted a girl, and has encouraged “feminine” behaviors and discouraged “masculine” behaviors in her little boy. And now the little boy is claiming to be a girl (to please his mommy, because that really is his motivation right now).
The kid should be taken away from this abusive mother.

You have it wrong the mother is the one that is mentally ill four is not an age where transgender problems happen. The mother is transferring her own thoughts on the kid. At four a boy is just as likely
to say I want to be a lion or dog then to say I am a girl. All it would take is the mother saying that his sister gets to bake a cake. l am guessing the mother gets a lot of attention for having a transgendered four year old.
