Michael Phelps gave his baby son Boomer a kiss as he added two more Olympic gold medals to his record total on Tuesday night after leading Team USA to victory in the 4x200 freestyle relay less than an hour after defeating his arch nemesis Chad Le Clos.
Phelps made up for one of the rare losses in his brilliant career by seeing off rival Le Clos to win the men's 200m butterfly - and his twentieth Olympic gold medal, which he later admitted it was 'revenge' for 2012.
'There was so much emotion and so much build up for that race,' Phelps later said of the race. 'I don't want to say it's revenge, but that's what it was.'
The most decorated Olympian in history has apparently never forgiven the South African upstart for prizing away 'his' title in the event by five hundredths of a second in London 2012.

Because you don't get to run his life, apparently.
Well I'm a 65 year old guy in good shape and still playing competitive volleyball and softball, I call them Awesome and the perfect specimens of athletic form.
With that being said, consider Michael Phelps' likely 20 years, if not more, training in a 100 meter cage.....back and forth, back and forth, back and forth, for how many laps, maybe a million or more?
To keep that focus for so many years is in itself a phenomenal accomplishment.............
Especially in view that he has ADHD. So it took and overwhelming type of activity to calm his mind and allow him to focus. That is one of the hallmarks of ADD/ADHD -- lots of scattered attention/energy and wasted opportunities, interspersed with laser focus on specific areas.
I swam 100 and 200 freestyle in High School... I gave up the sport when I got beat by a girl.
Of course, that girl was Shirley Babashoff, who competed on the boy’s team.
Phelps obviously knows that success is the best form of revenge.
Maryland “Freak State” PING!
F*ck those people. Like something out of Atlas Shrugged.
I don’t blame them for wanting to protect that baby’s ears. Good idea.
He’s the missing link between humans and dolphins.
tks mountn man.
That vulnerable little baby needs a good Christian father at home with his wife.
Or did you mean something else judgmentally?
I don’t understand your comment.
Why couldn’t he just do what an honorable Christian man should do? Get married once he realized a baby is on the way?
What’s so hard about that?
Apparently.
Given the cryptic nature of your non-reply, my brilliant point stands uncontested. As a Christian, Michael Phelps should have married the girl as soon as she got pregnant.
Quit “shoulding” on Michael Phelps, or anyone else for that matter. Self-righteous attitudes such as yours do not draw people to Christ; they turn people away.
I understand why he did not rush to marry her at this time, and wish them every blessing in achieving a solid marriage going forward. A rigid, shame-based worldview dims understanding and the light of Christ.
You and Charlie Sheen.
God commands us to tell the truth. He was living in sin.
And I’m telling you the truth: you are not God. You are not Saint Peter. Your place as an ambassador for Christ is not to wag your finger haruumphing self-righteously at other people’s sins, but rather to look to the log in your own eye. Unless, of course, your life is spotless. From what I heard, there has only ever been one perfect human.
Your personal interpretations or your denomination’s dogma may be the eternal Truth, or they may be a little off kilter. You won’t know until you get there and meet the real Judge.
We have an obligation to apply encouragement and guidance to Christians who go astray. When someone is leading a life of sin, and being a bad role model for millions of people, we have an obligation to point that out.
We point that out not just to Phelps in his moment of weakness but also to the multitude who may not know what Christians stand for. Christians, and their Bible, do not stand for fornication. Why are you defending it?
Great list. Thanks for posting. Had almost forgotten about Johnny Weissmuller, did not know he had won 5 golds.
I’m not defending fornication. I’m saying no one goes through this life without sin, and it looks very small of you to point out other people’s sin at the moment of great accomplishment. It could have been much, much worse. Instead, he was full of love and surrounded by family. Try not to envy so openly. Ain’t Christian.
