Wikipedia doesn't say anything about him dying, so I figure he's still alive. I saw him appear on something or other about a Decade ago. He was still funny.

I always liked Bob Hope. Also like Danny Kaye and Red Buttons.

There is no one answer; every generation has had its comedic geniuses. The silent era had Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton and Harold Lloyd. The Golden Age had the Marx Brothers, Abbott & Costello, and WC Fields. Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis were incredibly popular in the 1950s. Red Skelton, Milton Berle - Bob Hope spanned generations. Lucille Ball, Jonathan Winters, Dick van Dyke, Steve Martin, John Belushi, Richard Pryor, Gene Wilder, Bill Murray, Eddie Murphy. A lot of people loved Seinfeld. Jim Carrey had his moments. John Candy. Adam Sandler had a great run. Who’s funny now? Jack Black? Kevin Hart?
Yes, I'm a big Lloyd fan. I first saw Safety Last! back when I was in college in the late 70's. I went to a double feature of The General and Safety Last! I was already a fan of The General and had never seen a Lloyd film. I was familiar with the iconic shot of Lloyd hanging from the clock, but had never seen his films. I frankly always thought he didn't look funny.
I ended up loving Safety Last! and the excerpts from Hot Water that accompanied it. A year or so later, the local PBS station started showing all of Lloyd's films in those edited Time/Life versions. I video taped all of those.
I really like the restored uncut versions that Suzanne Lloyd has overseen with new music scores. I think Lloyd is in many ways the most accessible silent clown. He's not necessarily funny as a character, but he plays characters who do funny things. His films are more romantic than either Keaton's or Chaplin's. I think my favorite Lloyd is The Kid Brother. Over all, I think I prefer Lloyd to Chaplin (but I love Chaplin, too).

Yes. I think you are the first mention of Danny Kaye. Someone mentioned "the Court Jester" earlier, but I don't think they mentioned Danny Kaye.

I remember watching a movie about Harold Lloyd back in the early 60s. It played at the one theater town I grew up in.
It basically was a documentary but surprisingly good. One thing which I still find hard to believe is he actually did all those stunts. It was really him hanging from ledges etc.
He's still around, and still appearing on television. I think I saw him on "Hot in Cleveland" last year. He didn't look much different than he did when he played "Sharky."
I saw Joan Rivers recently twice before her death. Debatable about being best but she was great and I really miss her humor.
Joan Rivers was awesomely funny. I remember one time she was commenting about some actress that had adopted some African children. She said she wanted her children to be familiar with their heritage.
Joan Rivers said "Lock them in a hot room and throw in a jar of flies!"
