Shocking new pictures of the filthy waters in Rio have revealed yet more concerns for Olympic athletes in Brazil who have been told not to put their heads under water. Ganabara Bay will host the triathlon, sailing and some swimming events at the Games and last week a floating corpse and a severed arm were found floating in the water. A study has shown viral levels in the bay is up to 1.7 million times what would be considered worrisome in the United States or Europe.

Undoubtedly, it was to be "diverse" and "multi-cultural." The stark reality in this case perfectly illustrates why all cultures are NOT equally valid. When your culture rejects hard work and individualism in exchange for socialist collectivism, the results are inevitably corruption, crime, and squalor. That's the tale of the third world.
We can even see the same effect at play in the U.S. in the cities run by "progressive" collectivists. They suffer from many of the same problems as Rio, though of course on a lesser scale (at least so far). However, allow that collectivism to spread throughout the rest of the country and eventually we would be no better than Brazil.

Having never trained my entire life in the hopes of making it to the Olympics, I can't cast judgment on any athlete willing to experience the negative health issues that may or may not affect them during the course of their respective competitions.........
For the vast majority of them, this is the only chance they have for Olympic medals.........

They do that every year before Carnival. I think I remember them doing it for the World Cup and the Pope visit too.
No opportunity to win an Olympic Medal is worth going into that $#!+hole to get.
The Rio Olympics should just be canceled. Maybe they can move the Summer Olympics to Australia for sometime this winter.

Nope. I think the media will completely ignore Rio's flaws because they must portray Brazilians as no different than any other people. I believe the reason for that is that they are in the tank for illegal immigration, and even though most of our illegals come from Mexico and Central America, not South America, they probably view Brazilians as "Hispanics" who must be placed on a pedestal along with the rest.
Bribery and corruption are usually the keys to winning an Olympics. With Brazil, underaged girls may have been more useful than cash.
