I was wondering if the DNC always has their convention after the RNC. It seems to me that they should alternate, maybe they do, but I dont recall. If they do always have it after the RNC, that seems unfair, people always remember the last convention more than the first, plus then the speakers at the DNC can respond to what the RNC speakers said. Everyone wants the last word, why should they get it all the time.
Who ever is the sitting party in the WH always goes second.
For the same reason they always report their per-precinct vote tallies after us?
Incumbent party gets to go last.
Unwritten. Loser in previous election goes first
I believe the party in power goes last.
The “republicans” are the “opposition” party, you see.
AKA the “stupid party”.
They THRIVE on giving the other guy the advantage.
Bud, you’d hafta research that all the way back to when jackasses enjoyed slavery.
As CEO of a technology corp. whose clients were Fortune 500 firms, we had a major presentation to 3 CEO’s (incoming, outgoing, regional) on a negotiated contract over $1,000,000. Finalists were my firm - and IBM. We were given the morning slot, and IBM the afternoon slot.
I told my staff we were toast. IBM would have the last word, and they always use FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt) to influence clients from using competitors (we had been an IBM Business Partner - until they asked me to do something unethical which I refused)
We got the contract. When it was successfully finished, the firm’s Sr. VP asked me if they had told me what happened in the IBM presentation. I said no. He then told me that 2 of the CEO’s had walked out of the IBM presentation - because it paled so much compared to ours.
Hopefully the same will be true of the RNC and DNC conventions.......
Loser of last election? Party in Power? Article I is about the Congress, both houses of which the gopE has controlled for a long time. The RATS and RINOs should just alternate.
Better question, who allowed the democrats to use the color blue and republicans red? Didn’t it used to be reversed?
IIRC it was during the 1980 election when Ronald Reagan trounced Jimmah Carter that the MSM dictated that electoral maps depict states for Reagan as red & those for the Peanut as blue.
The USSR was active & dangerous in those days and the color red denoted pro-communist leanings (which many Democrats were and are). Hence the intentional reversal.
Really, there is much truth to what you say there. Look at Bush, Romney, McCain, Ryan & McConnels. They all let the opposition grow, say and do what ever they wanted and hardly a peep or any defensive let alone offensive effort on their part. Because of Bush types the left has grown and grown. These people are really part of the left which is why they just hate Trump.
I thought it was for W, but the sentiment behind your comment rings true - red is for communist, and the dems apparently didn’t like being tied to their brethren.
I asked the same question, and I think I was told that in the past, they alternated the colors - and sometimes used other colors; but in recent years the Red-R/Blue-D has stuck.

Tim Russert changed the color scheme in 2000. Prior to that...red was for democRAT/communists.
I remember David Brinkley looking at the electoral map on election night in 1984 (Reagan landslide) and saying “it looked like a big blue, suburban swiming pool” I dunno when it changed, probably the MSM didn’t like the Dems being associated with Soviet red.
I want the color blue back. Why do the democrats, who are today close to communists, get that color? THEY should be the red.
When Reagan was elected Republicans were BLUE.
You beat me to it.
