Trump on the Minimum Wage (vanity)

Posted on 07/26/2016 5:13:13 PM PDT by RoosterRedux

Just watched Trump on O'Reilly and he expounded on the minimum wage.

Will someone in the know get to Trump and tell him to stifle his minimum wage talk.

This is a free market issue...not a state or federal issue.

What you said was basically how liberals approach the matter. We couldn't know you were joking because there are, in fact, Freepers who support similar thinking.

I have no problem with a minimum wage, happier if only for citizens. Charge a 100% tax on non-citizen labor to incentivize hiring Americans. What is correct minimum, that is challenge—if entry-level jobs, lower than for career minimum wage jobs.

See my post #41.

Working poor get paid both their and employer share of FICA, Medicare and all taxes. Woking poor get bigger gross pay check.

At same time, no EITC. No SSI to fake disabled.
Cut back who qualifies for means-tested programs.

If he's claiming to support an increase in the minimum wage, but has no intention of actually doing anything to effect an increase in the minimum wage, then he's being willfully dishonest.

Presidents don't introduce legislation.

I’m in favor of the minimum wage does that make me a communist.

No, it makes you in favor of higher unemployment. Like a communist you don't want other people to trade freely, you think you know what is best for them, yet you can't possibly know their situation and desires better than them. What do you call that?

Presidents don't introduce legislation.

No. They get congressmen and senators to do it for them. They tell Congress what sort of legislation they want.

Don't play dumb.

Now you are talking real immigration reform.
No immigrant (legal, illegal, refugee or naturalized citizen) should qualify for any welfare or entitlement program.

We should not create a new class of dependents.

Historically it has been illegal for indigent to immigrate to the USA. Immigrant sponsors (family members, churches, employers) sign legally binding contracts guaranteeing the sponsored immigrant will not go on welfare..ever.

Deportation for even applying for taxpayer funded welfare.
(Churches and private charities can still do whatever they want.)

Wages are stagnant. This will cause upward pressure across the board for better or worse.

You really have no understanding of politics, are you?

Here, let me break it down for you:

- Bernie supporters are royally pissed
- Trump throws out support for a higher minimum-wage, albeit at the state level and provided it somehow gets through Congress
- Bernie supporters end up supporting Trump.

So, basically, he's lying to get votes.

Yeah, I know ... ALL politicians do it. Even St. Donald of Manhattan.

No, he's not.

He's saying if Congress produces legislation in favor of a higher minimum-wage, he'll support it.

Will Congress do it, like they did with the AWB that Bush supported but somehow failed to materialize on his desk?

“Bernie LIED about Trump when he said Trump said he wanted to LOWER the minimum wage.”

It was Democrat math logic.

Trump wanted to increase it less than Sanders wanted to increase it, therefore Trump wants to lower it.

I see. So he's not lying, he's actually promoting socialism.

He's just not promoting it quite as much as the demonicrats.

Wonderful.

all that minimum wages do is wipe out what ever wage increase a low wage employee gets if they stay with the same employer. this happens because within 6 months rent goes up, grocery goes up. the real reason that the democratic party supports minimum wage increases is so that they ac actually have people paying more taxes with there new increase of income that buys less stuff. another thing that increasing minimum wage does is make it so those on fixed income have less buying power because programs like social security tend not to increase as fast unless there is intervention buy the federal government. corporations actually love this because the increase in minimum wage actually hits startups that might be competition harder then the corporation.
