Homeowners returned to a Sand Canyon neighborhood Monday night, days after the raging Sand Fire tore through the area.
For some like John Kim, returning to the area meant picking through the remains of his home.
Kims neighbor died in his car trying to outrun the flames. The victim was a man in his 60s.
He lived on the property with a woman, who was too distraught to speak. Their home also burned to the ground.
Kim says the man who died went back to rescue his dog.

Ping.
Kinda dumb too.
..So sad.
Kinda dumb too....
There have been numerous cases of dogs saving people from fires. Many people will do what is necessary to save their dog too. There is a reason they are called Mans best friend. I guess you have to be a dog owner to understand.
Indeed. I would have done the same for my dog, so I understand.
He went “back” to save the dog? Is this sloppy journalism or what?
1) Did he get out and then go back? If so, why didn’t he take the dog out the first time? Years ago when we had to evacuate our home, I packed the photo albums and the pets first thing. Some things can’t be replaced.
2)Or had he be elsewhere and was driving into the neighborhood?
Of course it’s sloppy journalism. It’s CBS.
You’re entitled to your opinion.
Concur.
We would too. Hopefully, we would all be safe.
I was hoping you’d post that animated dog gif in honor of man’s Best friend.
Thx
I wonder if he though "wow I'm really glad I died trying to save my dog." as he burned to death.
If it is CBS, it is also the Corrupt Broadcast System, the propaganda wing of the democrat party.
So very sad.
People and animals . . .While back, a man died when the rope he tied came loose - he thought he was going to rescue a calf out of a hole in the ice of a frozen pond . . .
Stupidity has claimed another life; the world has lost a moron. Good deal.
He may have died in the attempt to save his dog, but he also got his ticket punched “ONE WAY TO HEAVEN”.
Would I risk my life for my dogs?
ABSOLUTELY.
I'd do it for my cat and I'd probably do the same thing for a neighbor's pet.......
I'd rather die trying to save someone or some animal than spend my end days in a nursing home not even remembering my own name..........I've lived a full life and have no regrets.
You don't belong here bro, you're an embarrassment...........
