Ted Cruz's extraordinary speech at the Republican not only angered Donald Trump's supporters who were in the hall Wednesday – it set off one of Cruz's senior Senate colleagues, who is now branding him a 'liar.'
'I think what people saw last night is what we have seen in the Senate. No matter how conservative you are, you never can meet Ted's standard,' fumed retiring senator Dan Coats of Indiana in an interview with IndyStar.
'He only thinks of himself, he doesn't think about party. He's a wrecking ball.' said Coates, the former U.S. ambassador to Germany who did two stints in the Senate.
Coates was so outraged at Cruz, who delivered a long speech where he called people to vote their 'conscience' but wouldn't endorse Trump, that he was willing to shatter the normal etiquette of not insulting fellow senators so directly.
'He's the most self-centered, narcissistic, pathological liar I've ever seen — and you can quote me on that,' he told the paper.
Cruz suffered similar, though less insulting, abuse when he faced down angry questioning from members of his own delegation, who shouted out questions about why he wouldn't endorse Trump.
Cruz's speech exposed a deep rift. He got booed in the hall by Trump supporters when he didn't endorse. Then Trump appeared in the hall as if to interrupt him, and Cruz supporters booed Trump.

Coates is totally GOPe - if he is going after Cruz (and by default, agreeing with Trump), then Cruz has some HUGE PROBLEMS.

The only thing Cruz can do now is to pull a David Brock. First he can become an Independent and then after a little while, join the Democrat Party. Hillary has already endorsed his speech. And the NYTimes is going ga-ga. So when does he start in with the DNC talking points, regarding Donald Trump? (Once they turn, they really go whole hog.)
Obviously that’s not Hillary! in the top photo. Not sure who it is, but the 2nd picture shows whoever it is more clearly and it ain’t Hillary!

Didn’t hear Cruz supporters booing Trump as the place was alive with shouts FOR Trump as he entered.
Cruz spoke more than TWICE the TIME allotted to him. He was supposed to speak for 10 minutes. TEN MINUTES stretched into over 23. That’s more than double the time he was allotted. AGAIN it shows his total disregard for others, only himself counts.
A LOT of FORMER Cruz supporters were completely turned off by Cruz and have SWITCHED to Trump supporters. They have seen the light.
When does Teddy change his party affiliation to what he really believes.
Sundance is convinced that’s Hillary but I don’t think so. This woman is not fat enough. Hillary may be on the plane, but that woman is not her.
I agree with Cruz on one thing, the “party” system is no more than a sham; dictatorial countries have “parties.”
