... Feel really badly for Ted’s children, could you imagine having him for a father and being on the receiving end of his verbal lashings ???
I am pretty sure most are keeping a low profile out of deference to Jim Rob’s decree that FReepers need to get on board with Trump or keep their reservations to themselves.
Disclaimer: I have never been a big Cruz guy, but supported him once it basically came down to him or Trump. I could forgive him for not endorsing Trump given what passed between them during the campaign had he just chosen to remain silent. But accepting a prime time speaking slot at the national convention, and then using it to undercut the party’s nominee was not just bad form, it was dishonorable. I don’t live in Texas but if Cruz faces a primary challenge in 2018 I will send money to his challenger.
I have supported Cruz all along. I did not see his speech last night, so I only have the articles and comments to go on. I can only imagine he never got over the attacks made on his wife in the heat of the campaign, but it was highly inappropriate for him to have delivered such a speech, especially when it was considered an olive branch, and he came pretty close to committing political suicide (especially in front of people that STILL supported him).
Always after a defeat and a respite, the Shadow takes another shape and grows again.

Donald won because we need an in your face fighter who cares not a witt about politically correctness or whose elbows he bumps into a face with. Unfortunately since Ted was in his way he used those same elbows on him as he would anybody else. Donald has twisted a lot of otherwise good people into despising the best man who should have won.
Who the frak cares? Most are converted or are gone, why keep bringing this up.
While I agree more with Cruz's stands on all issues, I see that Trump has a much greater chance to win and that he hasn't been corrupted and he's hitting home runs on the most important issues. It's like that Rolling Stone song:
I supported Cruz until Trump got the votes........I’m disappointed in Cruz’s reaction. With better judgement he could have easily preserved his future potential.
I’m right here and I don’t see what all the fuss is about. Trump asked Cruz to speak, Cruz accepted. The speech was cleared by the Trump campaign and RNC hours before, so there were no surprises.
And in the speech, not a negative word was spoken about our nominee Mr. Trump. He congratulated him, and admonished voters to come out and vote for candidates that espouse conservative principles and follow the constitution. If Mr. Trump fits that description, then he must be one of the candidates Senator Cruz was talking about, right?
Cruz supporters know that there is no room for Cruz supporters on FR any more. So they tend not to speak in defence of Cruz, out of concern that they might be banned for having done so.
FWIW, I’ve been here since the beginning of FR. We can get through this crazy time. I hope.
I was a Cruz supporter, and up until last night, I openly proclaimed that “Cruz is my man, but this is not his time, and therefore, I will support the Trump ticket, and I am against any establishment attempts to hijack the nomination that Trump won fair and square.” But after Cruz’s speech last night, I can’t see myself supporting Cruz for anything other that Sore Loser of the Year and the Barrack Hussein Obama Narcissist Award. Cruz is not only pathetic, but downright creepy.
With that said, I understand the bad blood given Trump’s personal attacks upon Cruz and his family; but if Cruz can’t look past that, then he should have declined the opportunity to give a twenty minute speech at the convention; or give a three minute speech like Reagan gave at the 1976 convention in which he attacked the Democrats and called for the Republicans to unify for the common good; but did not formally endorse Gerald Ford as the party’s nominee. Reagan had class even as a loser; Cruz obviously does not.
What I really had to laugh at this morning was Glenn Beck’s attempt to justify Cruz’s clusterf@#%, by claiming that Cruz promised to support the nominee, but never promised to endorse the nominee. What a DB!
Too embarrassed for Cruz.
I wanted to sleep on what I saw last night and dissipate some of the rage I felt for ly’n ted.
First, on a high note, let us observe that Donald knew he was going to be sandbagged , Instead of crushing the second place finisher ( way back behind Trump) he reached out to unify the party. Even though cruz had used suggestive modeling picture of Melania taken in legitimate photo shoots as somehow implying that she was not a good person and even though cruz lied to the Carson delegates in Iowa that “Carson has dropped out”, even though he had given his signed pledge and made videoed statements in front of the voters repeatedly that he would endorse the nominee of the party- Even though he lied about campaign loans from his wife’s wall street employer, Goldman Sacks - Trump did a magnanimous thing and let cruz have his moment before the New Republican party . He did that for party unity,
But cruz is not about unity. He is about himself. This despicable and disgusting weezle tried and failed to hijack the convention for himself. He ended his political career 20 minutes later. He will be defeated in the next primary by none other than Rick Perry for Senator from Texas.
Ladies and Gentlemen . . .
This is so far off-topic. Let it lie. See if DJT has anything to say (I doubt it) and follow his lead.
Meanwhile. Move on to Hillary.
The Boss Man has gotten rid of most of them.
And the few remaining will be gone soon too.
On another subject go and see Hillary's America the Movie. Do not miss it! It is about her but also about the history of the democrat party and how they have cheated and lied since they began.
I was of the opinion early on that Trump should declare he would only serve one term as President , fix things , and move on.. that might have helped to prevent what we see playing out in the media today.. but cooler heads did not prevail nor was a strategy to take back the WH for a decade or two developed..
Blame? The Bushes .. and Clintoons, of course.. arrogant bastards.. and their cohorts.. and underlings.. and hangers on.. and Beltway insiders.. suckered to the bottom of the TReasury mothership feeding troughs like barnacles to an old freighter keel.
I supported Ted Cruz. But when I saw the overwhelming support for Trump and his message, I knew he would win the nomination. I have predicted and continue to predict he will win the general election in a landslide. I believe there are many Democrats who will vote for Trump over She Who Shall Not Be Named for a variety of reasons.
This primary has been a fight for the direction of the party, which primaries should be about. I think the elites lost this one. I hope that is the case.
It was perhaps not surprising to me, but still disappointing to see many prominent Republicans not supporting Trump as the party nominee. This is doubly so for Ted Cruz. He reveals himself as a self centered politician, not the statesman I have long considered him to be. His reputation has been tarnished, beyond repair, by not endorsing the nominee.
That being said, I am fully in support of Trump and his message and can not wait to pull the lever for him in the general election.
