I believe it is Trump's obligation, as the victor, to be the bigger man and do his part to heal the rift in the party, regardless of who one believes to be fault. That's just the way these things work. The victor must be a good winner.
Here's what he should work into his speech:
"You know, I've always enjoyed watching Ted Cruz take it to the powers-that-be in Washington. He's a man of deep conservative principles --- and a complete pain in the ass.
I don't enjoy it much when he's a pain in my ass.
But he's OUR pain in the ass.
And he's right about one thing in particular --- and said the most important thing you've heard at this convention --- vote for the man who will uphold the Constitution, believes in liberty and freedom, and who will return this fine country to greatness.
Well, I give my word to Ted, and I give my word to you. Indeed, I swear by G-d, on my life and the life of my children and grandchildren, that I will uphold the Constitution. I believe in liberty and freedom, and I will return this fine country to greatness."
The result would be a healing of the rift, the NeverTrumpers would shut up, and Cruz and Trump could work together, which they will need to do.
Donald can’t be biting heads off forever, though.

Trump has already done that, many times over.
It’s sort of implied in the idea of making America great “again.” This relied, in part, on a more traditionalist view of the Constitution. Donald is getting at it indirectly. That might not be enough to make Ted Cruz comfortable, but it doesn’t have to.
I am one of those crazy Christians (now I poke fun at myself, knowing where I really am) that ultimately believes it depends on a return to God consciousness. And all the reports I see is that religiously serious Jews agree about that too.
So, he should make up with Bill Kristol and his ilk?

First paragraph, people need to be spoon fed. It needs to be explicit, not implied.
Sure, that may be what is “just and right.”
But it’s not what will play well in the election.

I read somewhere the two of them met just a few days ago. I assumed that was where the negotiations took place. With Trump being the champion negotiator, I just assumed a deal was made.
Obviously the negotiations failed.
Once they failed, Cruz should not have been allowed to speak.
Today’s headlines were supposed to be all about the unveiling of Mike Pence. His name isn’t anywhere. All the news is Ted Cruz.
This is the second day out of three that the headlines are other than what the campaign planned.
Ninety five percent of the convention will be Trump’s speech so who cares? Still, this convention has not lived up to my expectations. I was expecting Trump to really put on a show. Instead, it’s been a pretty standard convention with some pretty big screw-ups.
There is a time to let enmities just rest, waiting on the grace of God to do what it can. Abraham Lincoln said he destroyed his enemies by making them his friends.
Jesus Christ Himself could not heal the rift in the Republican party much less the country as a whole. Trump needs to realize that, move forward, and let the rest of the people follow or drop out as the case may be.

As Ted Cruz proved last night, the #NeverTrump folks are entirely irrational. Cruz exploited a young girl’s last goodbye with her policeman father. And for what purpose? Just to show that Teddy Bare has feelings, too?
I know it is hard to realize that Donald Trump is actually the smartest man in the room, but I got over it and you can too. ;-)
What would work would be Cruz to demand his
father undergo a deposition, and interviews,
on the murder of JFK.
THEN, Cruz could explain his death threat
against Lollipop, and his lies in the campaign.
Ritual suicide by Cruz would be reasonable, except
we must know about his father, first.
Ya know, Mike Pence doesn’t need the headlines to be Mike Pence.
