Often here we're put on the defensive, such as when there's a mass shooting in this country, particularly with an unfriendly administration. They know all the answers - if we want gun violence to end, we need to eliminate guns (at least from law abiding citizens). If cops don't want to get shot in cold blood, perhaps they shouldn't shoot blacks in cold blood (he didn't exactly say that, but the message seems to be something like that). And the list goes on.
So how about if we help. Let's list out a few 'suggestions' for the president to calm things down. If he does want that outcome, perhaps he'll use some of them. Let's keep it from being nasty, so don't say useless stuff like "maybe he should go back to Kenya" (for example), as it just makes our side look silly and pathetic.
So I'll start off:
1) Clearly state that killing cops in cold blood is NEVER acceptable, regardless of whatever perceived wrongs may have been committed.
2) Explain to them that we have at least two means to prosecute bad cops - the state and local levels, and the federal level (arguably double jeopardy, but that's for another debate). If a wrong is committed by a cop, it will get investigated and given our dual systems, it will not be covered up.
3) Learn to allow an investigation and accept the results of any investigation - in the vast majority of times, cop killings are justified, given the circumstances and the immediate threat. We live in a country of laws, not a country where cold-blooded killings are acceptable (either of cops, or of blacks), regardless of the perceived injustice.
4) No longer support any part of Black Lives Matter until they both denounce, without qualification, the killings of cops, and agree to report anyone plotting such to the FBI.
5) Infiltrate Black Lives Matter and other hate groups to identify the people calling for violence and arrest and prosecute them. Only end the infiltrations after the killings stop for a certain amount of time, maybe 3 months - or until the groups disband.
6) Tell Facebook, Twitter, and other social media outlets that shutting down hate sites that call for the killings of cops is acceptable - it is not racist. In the United States, calling for the killings of cops is equivalent to calling for the assassination of the president, it is simply not acceptable, regardless of how angry one may be at the person (or persons).
7) Not comment on any police-involved violence (beatings, shootings, killings, etc.) regardless of how unjust it may appear. Support investigations of the incidents, federal investigations if warranted, but no more commenting on the events. There will always be cop killings of whites, Hispanics, and yes, blacks. These matters should only be looked at by impartial professionals.
8) No longer accept rioting or breaking of laws during a protest. If people block a highway, that is not acceptable. If they get a permit to march, and abide by the terms of that march, that is fine. If they feel a need to riot to get their point across, or otherwise block commerce, that is simply not acceptable and people will be arrested and prosecuted.
9) No more kid-gloves for those arrested. If people throw rocks at cops, they will be prosecuted in accordance with their crimes. If adults, that may well mean 10 years of hard time. People need to think very hard before attacking police.
10) Prosecute people that finance violent organizations. For example, if George Soros is funding groups that are calling for violence against cops - then Mr. Soros needs to be held accountable, and possibly jailed, now that cops are dying because of him.
Those are my first 10 ideas. Feel free to add to it, but again, let's keep it clean and constructive.
Have at it!
I bet Trump would. But then again he would start correcting the problem instead of being a cheerleader.
Thats obama, all thats missing is the skirt and pom poms.
Thank you!...I really appreciate that. We’re all in this together and I would like an outcome that stops the killings, yet protects the Second Amendment.
A few years ago, an urban radio station discussed a poll wherein the key question was “how many white people do you know?”
The overwhelming majority answered ‘none”.
That’s unacceptable. Whites have tried to go to blacks to reach out. After being rebuffed every time, I fear they’ve given up.
The black community needs to be “organized” to embrace America, trust white people, give up the Uncle Tom and thug image and embrace success.
Many claim to believe in Jesus Christ but are led far astray by separatist political preachers. I know a couple strong Christian men who are preachers and happen to be black. These are the preachers to hear and emulate.
We shall see how serious President Trump is. The 0bama crew needs to be prosecuted for the crimes committed in the last 8 years. If Trump is serious he will.
Id rather just grit my teeth until 20 Jan, 2017. I would rather be a lamppost in Jeddah than listen to one word that awful, homosexual, muslim has to say..
Presidents NEVER go after previous presidents. It just wont happen. He may go after hillary but that remains to be seen.
I dont care where obama and his gang slither away to.
I just want my country back.
I’m sorry bro, there is NO WAY Trump will go after the previous regime.
Sorry BobL, while all your suggestions have great merit, you are trying to talk to the wrong President. Mr Obama is allied with the BLM movement and is an employee of Mr. Soros.
The list you have created belongs at the Republican National Convention and a refined version in the platform.
Then it will just be more Uniparty BS, IMHO.
Thanks, understand that. I know FULL WELL that the president isn’t going to listen to me or anyone else here - but if a few Republicans listen, perhaps, FOR ONCE, we can take the OFFENSIVE.
“Presidents NEVER go after previous presidents. It just wont happen.”
Actually President Obama broke the mold on this. While Reagan had EVERY REASON to go after the disaster that Carter left him, he did not. Nor did the Bush’s.
But, almost to this day, Obama CONTINUES TO BLAME BUSH Jr. for the moribund economy...because of the 2008 crash. And, of course, Bush Jr. doesn’t respond.
So President Obama broke the mold - I doubt President Trump will have a problem following that precedent.
RESIGN IMMEDIATELY!
Worthless post, worthless request.
How about we all write him an “open letter”? I’m sure that will change the course of events as he gets an epiphany when he realizes his hate for cops, white people, Christians, conservatives, western civilization in general is just not reasonable.
He should take a long walk on a short pier
I mean go after as in charging with crimes. Never happen.
Resign. Now.
I dont know. obama didn’t go after Bush but he certainly moled the country the EXACT way he wanted to.
The uniparty means that republicans vote like dems.
Dems are QUITE happy with what’s going on.
It’s not a uniparty That word is too kind. It’s a dem party with some guys who decided to run on the GOP ticket.
One useful thing he could do is reverse himself on not letting police have military surplus stuff that they could use right now. Give back the things he forced police to give up and make more stuff available.
‘One useful thing he could do is reverse himself on not letting police have military surplus stuff that they could use right now.”
I hear your point, but it’s worth keeping in mind that there is a lot of fear here (and elsewhere) of letting the police essentially become a paramilitary force under the command of this president. On the other hand, it would SURE BE NICE if the cops had a way to put this jerk down after the first shot, long before their lives were at risk.
Gummint has to have credibility. Even Nixon understood that. This gummint has Zero credibility, coincidence?
1. Go outside the lines of a peaceful protest or commit a crime....get your Obamaiphone taken away.
2. Petty crime...take cable away.
3. Injure someone of own or other race...take your EBT card away for life!
When we are hit in the pocket book, we sometimes have to change our ways.
