Lost My Cat

Posted on 07/15/2016 7:07:29 AM PDT by Aggie65

Today, I had to have my 16 yr old cat put to sleep. She was not eating, or drinking, and could not climb kitty steps. She could not control her bladder. Last night is the first night she has not gotten on my chest when I went to sleep. She had hidden herself, and my wife could not find her to bring her to me. At the Vet office to day, she could not raise up on my chest even when I laid back at a 45 degree angle. I told her that she would be able to play with her litter mate who died of cancer in 2008 (after hurricane Ike). Thank for letting me remember her.

I’m so sorry. She sounds like she was a sweet kitty.

Sorry to hear about your kitty. I’ve lost two of mine in the last year, so know how you feel. My red tabby was almost 19 years old when she passed. She was not ready to go, but apparently had some kind of seizure & in about the same condition as your dear kitty. One of the saddest days of my life.

I’m a cat guy too and miss all of those who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Positive thoughts, and good memories will help. Best.

How sad that we humans outlive those whom we love so much. Wife & I each have lost beloved feline companions. Our prayers for you.

I am sorry to hear about your loss.

In the last year I have undergone the loss of both a cat and a dog. I considered them as my “others” or perhaps I was their “other”.

As you know, the decision of what is best for one’s other is most often in conflict with the strong desire to continue the relationship on the human side of the equation.

My 17 year old cat is showing signs of age but still eats, drinks and has control of bodily functions. However, like her 78 year old “other”, she has slowed down considerably!

Time erases some of the pain but never the memories!

So sorry to hear about Callie. I cannot imagine losing our kitty, who also sleeps with us, and I reach for him when I stir in the night.

Prayers.

I am sorry for your loss. I am more of a dog person, but my wife and I usually have a cat as well. We lost a cat over ten years ago that was very special. She was the only pet I’ve buried in the back yard. When they are sick and go off to be by themselves (both dogs and cats), it is usually a sign that the end is near.

I’m sorry. It’s the hardest part of having a pet, isn’t it? When we were faced with this a couple of years ago, I explained to my daughters that it was the last kind thing we could do for our sweet little kitty, to let her rest. It helps me to remember that. God bless.

I’m so very sorry for the loss. One of ours had to be put to sleep in May; she got some evil virus, quit eating, and lost half her body weight. We fed her with a syringe for 10 days, but eventually she could no longer swallow, and we couldn’t watch her die of thirst and starvation. She wasn’t even 8 years old.

I miss that little beast, and I know you miss yours.

I lost my 18 year old cat about 1month ago it was devastating, I was taking him to the vet to have him put to sleep but he died in the car I felt so guilty about putting him in the car, he always HATED the car!!! My deepest sympathy when you have a pet for that period of time it is like losing a part of the family!!! I was so grief stricken went to the shelter the next day and got a kitty it really helped me!!!

Aggie, yesterday we had to put to sleep our young, not quite 5 years old kitty Ciel. She had eaten window clings a week ago and become poisoned and her kidneys shut down. Tears keep leaking from my eyes. My heart breaks for you too. I am so very sorry, and I truly DO know your pain.

Time will add a layer of protection to our hearts for these losses. It won’t heal a broken heart. Just give the heart some breathers in the mourning. Mourning our Ciel we had to put down yesterday. But I know it will get easier to remember the good times. It is too hard yet. I’m sorry you lost Callie.

I often see my dog Smoky in the clouds. He passed away a couple of years ago. Clouds often take the shape of animals and this morning I believe that I saw an image of what looked like two cats chasing each other.

We have a dog approaching 14. She is still full of life but I’m dreading the next year. I hate this feeling - like a ticking time bomb. I’m just mindful of giving her as much love and affection while I still can.

They are family. You gave kitty a great life and that’s what you must remember.

I love all 4 of my rescues. One I call my other son because we got him at a week and a half and had to bottle feed an diaper him.

You can always save another.

I'M STILL HERE

Aggie, please don’t mourn for me I’m still here, though you don’t see. I’m right by your side each night and day and within your heart I long to stay. My body is gone but I’m always near. I’m everything you feel, see or hear. My spirit is free, but I’ll never depart as long as you keep me alive in your heart. I’ll never wander out of your sight- I’m the brightest star on a summer’s night. I’ll never be beyond your reach- I’m the warm moist sand when you’re at the beach. I’m the colorful leaves when fall comes around and the pure white snow that blankets the ground. I’m the beautiful flowers of which you’re so fond, The clear cool water in a quiet pond. I’m the first bright blossom you’ll see in the spring, The first warm raindrop that April will bring. I’m the first ray of light when the sun starts to shine, and you’ll see that the face in the moon shine is mine. When you start thinking there’s no one to love you, you can talk to through the Lord up above you. I’ll whisper my answer through the leaves on the trees, and you’ll feel my presence in the soft summer breeze. I’m the hot salty tears that flow when you weep and the beautiful dreams that come while you sleep. I’m the smile you see on your happy face. Just look for me Aggie, I’m every place!
