What are the anti-Trumper radio hosts saying now?

Posted on 07/14/2016 8:33:33 PM PDT by MNDude

Many Republican talk radio hosts expressed their contempt for Trump during the primaries--Levin, Hugh Hewitt, Glenn Beck, Michael Medved. I haven't listened to these guys for awhile, so I'm curious, what are they all saying now? Are these guys finally getting behind Trump to defeat Hilary or are they still having a Never Trump attitude? Anyone know?

Did he say what he likes about Pence? I’ve had a hard time finding much out about him, other than general grumbling about the religious liberty bill.

He said that he had been a prominent conservative in the Congress, and that he considered him a friend. He said that the last time he saw Pence, was at an NRA event.

I am not sure about the other points he raised, but I have heard that he was fiscally conservative in the Congress, and had been an active leader in the Congress when he served.

Here is what Conservative Review reports (https://www.conservativereview.com/commentary/2016/07/10-things-you-should-know-about-mike-pence):

Here are 10 things you should know about him:

1. Pence was born in 1959 in Columbus, Indiana. He has been a lifelong Indiana resident. He attended Hanover College and the Indiana University School of Law.

2. Pence was a Democrat in college. He was the youth coordinator for the Bartholomew County Democrats and voted for Jimmy Carter in 1980. Pence claims his senior thesis changed his views, due to a heavy emphasis on studying the American founding fathers. He left Hanover as a conservative Christian, according to Indianapolis Monthly.

3. Pence ran a conservative Indiana think-tank called the Indiana Policy Review Foundation from 1991 to 1994.

4. In 1994, he started a radio show that grew into a five-day-a-week show on local radio. He left his radio show to run for Congress in 2000. It was his second attempt having lost in 1990. He won the 2000 race.

5. As a congressman, Pence was more conservative than the average Republican. He frequently scored perfect on the American Conservative Union scorecard. Earlier in his career, he also scored well on the Club for Growth scorecard, but scored worse as time went on.

6. Pence is soft on illegal immigration. In 2006, he pushed George Bush on immigration reform. In 2013, Governor Pence signed into law a bill that lessened the restrictions on illegal immigrants being ineligible for in-state tuition rates at Indiana state colleges and public universities.

7. In 2015, Pence made a stand for religious liberty with the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) … only to cave soon after following uproar from the Left and the media. In the remarkable volte-face Pence let lawmakers “clarify” (gut) the law.

8. Under Pence, Indiana became one of the first states to opt-out of Common Core. However, Pence’s replacement plan was essentially a rebranding of Common Core standards. Many conservatives argued his plan was even more overbearing.

9. Despite his conservative promise as a congressman, Pence proved to govern as a progressive technocrat not a conservative. Much like John Kasich in Ohio, Pence has shifted to government centric policies on education, health care, and the economy.

10. Pence is widely known for giving one of the most tepid, hesitant endorsements in the history of presidential politics when he announced his support for Ted Cruz before the Indiana primary earlier this year. While endorsing Cruz he also spoke very highly of Trump. Perhaps a move that move could be paying off now.

Thanks! Some good, some bad there. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

One other thing that I have heard, is that Pence is widely liked on a personal level by his peers - he has a lot of good relationships with a lot of legislators still serving.

They also say that Pence is a great communicator (possibly from being a radio talk show host).

It would be wonderful if someone would be effectively expressing conservative ideas routinely on the National stage, and routinely during Cabinet meetings.

Oh God, I pray for your help.

A few mornings ago I heard Hugh Hewitt declare to a caller, “We have GOT to elect Donald Trump.” He was very emphatic about the clear choice between Trump and Hillary, especially on their widely different impacts on the Judiciary.

I have also read they are trying to get delegates for Trump to recast votes for Cruz.

Whoa, a tad over the line there.

I detest them too but please, let’s not talk like 5th graders.

“Wonder if Hillary is gonna ask Cruz to be her running mate????......:o))”

Nope for all his faults I doubt he’d stoop that low. Jeb Bush on the other hand, well maybe.

You forgot Steve Deace. My computer captures his podcast, but I haven’t listened for months. The titles of the MP3’s are things like: Trump, Moron or Imbecile?

I heard a little bit on the radio last night. Deace was replaying a CNN report on Trump University, with added commentary reminding the listener that Hitler, Stalin, and Mao were better men than Trump could ever hope to be.

I saw a tweet from Deace on twitter “Dispense with Pence” and I thought perhaps he needs some good meds.

I have listened on and off to Levin for the past few weeks and he is no longer bashing Trump.

Deace always sounded perfectly sane to me, until he endorsed Cruz. He has stuck with Cruz through all of Cruz’s lies about “Donald”:

Donald is for Obamacare.

Donald is for Partial-Birth Abortion.

Donald is for single-payer for every American.

Donald tells his crowds to get violent AT ALL HIS RALLIES.

I remember Levin’s saying, about McCain (think of Mark shouting at the top of his lungs as you read this): “We’re going to drag his sorry carcass over the finish line, whether he wants to win or not!”

He could have said the same thing about Romney.

Unfortunately, both McCain and Romney were determined to take a dive.

I too rarely listen to talk radio anymore.

Way too many breaks for ads. And, on top of that, they sneak in ads right during the show. Lifelock comes to mind.

Rush, albeit the gold standard of talk radio hosts, is just plain boring. He reminds me of a great athlete who stays in the game a season or two too long. Rush should retire.

Savage is good when he’s talking about politics and not his dog or favorite restaurant.

But, again, ads, ads, ads.

Wouldn’t it be great if your favorite talk radio host was on your local public radio station instead of the loopy commies they put on there? Ad-free Savage!

Yes, I knew. He gave a pretty slick ‘non-endorsement’ endorsement of Cruz. So much so that the media picked it apart.

Like he was grudgingly paying off a long forgotten loan.

What was your point?

Levin will NEVER recover his listening audience because of his blatant anti-Trump, pro Chamber of Commerce candidate positions.

NEVER, EVER!
