Pluto isn't quite as lonely as scientists had thought.
Astronomers have discovered another dwarf planet in the Kuiper Belt, the ring of icy objects beyond Neptune. But this newfound world, dubbed 2015 RR245, is much more distant than Pluto, orbiting the sun once every 700 Earth years, scientists said. (Pluto completes one lap around the sun every 248 Earth years.)
"The icy worlds beyond Neptune trace how the giant planets formed and then moved out from the sun," discovery team member Michele Bannister, of the University of Victoria in British Columbia, said in a statement. "They let us piece together the history of our solar system."

The exact size of 2015 RR245 is not yet known, but the researchers think it's about 435 miles (700 kilometers) wide. Pluto is the largest resident of the Kuiper Belt, with a diameter of 1,474 miles (2,371 km).
The research team first spotted 2015 RR245 in February of this year, while poring over images that the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope in Hawaii took in September 2015 as part of the ongoing Outer Solar System Origins Survey (OSSOS).
"There it was on the screen this dot of light moving so slowly that it had to be at least twice as far as Neptune from the sun," Bannister said.

When you consider that, 24 hours later, even the finest food you've eaten is of interest only to dung beetles, I'd have to agree with her.
On the other hand, I think sleep is a waste of time too.
So how do I spend my time? Well, I read a lot; so much so that I have words oozing out of me at times.
Reading is never a waste of time. I’m also fond of sleeping, because otherwise you drive your van into a tree.
I just mopped the floors while listening to Jay Nordlinger talk to Dana Perino about her new book, which is about her dog. It was amusing, and now the floors are clean, but as soon as the people get home from the gym or Tom comes downstairs, it will all have been for nothing, I fear.
I find it easier to do with less sleep than with less food.
So far, I have not driven any vehicles into trees. Other vehicles perhaps, but that was not due to a lack of sleep.
I have learned that I can do without food, or without sleep, but not without both. However, at my current phase of life, bad things happen when I don’t eat.
At your current phase of life, you should be supplementing your diet with vitamins and beneficial herbs.
They are less expensive than medicines, and it is easier to retain your health than it is to regain your health.
And DP too.
Just dropped the kids off at the pool. :D
We take many vitamins and some herbs. Like kelp and chlorophyll. Neither of us uses any medicines except an occasional painkiller or antihistamine.
Heh, cute!
Good Morning.
A Kitten mouse simulator....
Sounds like fun.
Good morning. Kittens aren’t much help when it comes to real mice.
I don’t know where to jump in with a post this morning, since I could reply to all of them, or I could have just stood in bed.
Food is over-rated. I know because I cook for myself when I have something to cook, and most of the time, I don’t like it after I cook it. So I seldom cook. Of course, lately, I’ve been staying with yogurt, instant breakfast and rice pudding, mostly to try and keep the weight off.
But I have to eat less of something. The weight is staying put. Of course, walking through Walmart every other day would be good, if I did it fast, but who has the money to go there all the time?
My Walmart doesn’t make you pay just to walk around ;-).
Good morning. I’m trying to get the epople out to the gym at the earliest possible time. I have threatened them with lentils for supper if they fail to move it move it.
Mine doesn’t either, but I’d at least like to snag a pear on my way to the check stand...*snorf*
Vlad and I will enjoy the lentils. Tom will be told he can’t eat the frozen pizza and will be threatened with loss of Internet.
I’m going to build a book box and hope it will hold the pictures in frames that I have stacked up. I have a larger box that I will use for the awards and such, and the paintings will have to ride in the tracker with me. Just in case!
If I can get one banker’s box packed in addition to the pictures, I will consider it progress. And I’m good with that. Maybe tomorrow, I can pack another storage tub. Maybe.
The girl who was going to take the recliner on the patio, had forgotten all about it, so I reminded her and she said she will get it today. I hope she does. I told her I needed the space for storage. The only place I could put it where it was out of the weather was close to the outside bedroom wall, and that’s where I want to store the stuff I’ve packed.
I can’t recall when the last time was that I had lentils, but I do know I wasn’t too impressed with them. I might like them better in soup. Is there a lentil soup? I like barley soup. But I’m kinda weird. ;o]

(I just thought I’d see if this little thing worked...)
(It sorta does.)
Maybe.
