Pluto isn't quite as lonely as scientists had thought.
Astronomers have discovered another dwarf planet in the Kuiper Belt, the ring of icy objects beyond Neptune. But this newfound world, dubbed 2015 RR245, is much more distant than Pluto, orbiting the sun once every 700 Earth years, scientists said. (Pluto completes one lap around the sun every 248 Earth years.)
"The icy worlds beyond Neptune trace how the giant planets formed and then moved out from the sun," discovery team member Michele Bannister, of the University of Victoria in British Columbia, said in a statement. "They let us piece together the history of our solar system."
...
The exact size of 2015 RR245 is not yet known, but the researchers think it's about 435 miles (700 kilometers) wide. Pluto is the largest resident of the Kuiper Belt, with a diameter of 1,474 miles (2,371 km).
The research team first spotted 2015 RR245 in February of this year, while poring over images that the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope in Hawaii took in September 2015 as part of the ongoing Outer Solar System Origins Survey (OSSOS).
"There it was on the screen this dot of light moving so slowly that it had to be at least twice as far as Neptune from the sun," Bannister said.

Well, she couldn’t have walked everywhere, so there must be horses!
What about “Espinoza Life Support”? Get it?
LOL - I love it!
Actually, we’re about 50-50 on the division between conservatives and leftists, so we can’t give it a political moniker. (But “Hail Seizure” is pretty funny!)
If a dozen people show up, it will be good for a start, and with luck we can entice more as time goes by. They have nothing to do, so they have nothing to look forward to. Zeke wants to change that.
Now, it’s time for a shower. I overslept again. *sheesh* It’s a good thing I don’t have to punch a time clock!
“Espinoza Sunshine Fund”
Good morning! I overslept a little, too, until after 6:00. Bill is supposed to take Elen to school soon, and then he’s going to the dentist. I have my prayer group at 10:00.
That won’t work because “Sunshine” has been applied to the person who gives out BD cards on appropriate days, and sympathy cards when needed. They are responsible for getting the birthday cakes for each month. (This is in ALL senior housing.)
But thanks. ;o]
Are those two of the kittehs from yesterday? They sure look like it! SQUEE!!!
I asked LuDean a few days ago about how to contact her son, the retired Henderson cop, to help Zeke out, and she blasted me out of the water.
I just wrote her a note and told her I was sorry she got upset, but soon enough, this would all be made public, and she would understand. Mentally, I put in a parenthetical, (I hope.)
So we will see. She has been part of the group for almost two years, and I hate to see any of them leave. But if she stays away, it’s because she really isn’t what we want. She can be a wil-o’-the-wisp, and we will find someone else to join us. Though it won’t matter in six months, anyway, because I won’t be here. But still...
If it’s not one darn thing, it’s two darn things!
Yes, those are some of yesterday’s kittehs. I thought they were cute enough for an encore.
Pat’s dying to do math now, so I’ll be off to Real Life. Catch you later!
I just found a little gray moth flying around, and as soon as he let me catch him, I took him outside and helped him get going. It’s the only insect type I can tolerate to even look at, and I don’t know why.
*tagline*
Speaking of straight lines, feel free to say it.
What? I don’t know, too easy...
Taking Charge.
Sounds sufficiently leftist that the IRS should give you no trouble...
LOL! That’s it: Seniors Taking Charge. ;o]
How are the casa calamity repairs proceeding?
You’ve been in my prayers, of late, so I have faith that it will all be taken care of soon.
Plumbing fixed, fridge still down, most of the outlets updated, trim installed, study getting set up vacuum returned and refunded. Mouse not yet trapped, dishwasher flaky. Over all pretty good.
Hu’s on first ?
I’m glad to hear things are somewhat back to normal. I have decided that “normal” is for someone else, because no matter what I think, there is nothing “normal” about my life.
You’re setting mouse traps out with peanut butter, right? Not too much or they will just feast on it without tripping the lever.
HAH!
