New Dwarf Planet Discovered Far Beyond Pluto's Orbit
space.com ^ | 07/11/2016

Pluto isn't quite as lonely as scientists had thought.

Astronomers have discovered another dwarf planet in the Kuiper Belt, the ring of icy objects beyond Neptune. But this newfound world, dubbed 2015 RR245, is much more distant than Pluto, orbiting the sun once every 700 Earth years, scientists said. (Pluto completes one lap around the sun every 248 Earth years.)

"The icy worlds beyond Neptune trace how the giant planets formed and then moved out from the sun," discovery team member Michele Bannister, of the University of Victoria in British Columbia, said in a statement. "They let us piece together the history of our solar system."

...

The exact size of 2015 RR245 is not yet known, but the researchers think it's about 435 miles (700 kilometers) wide. Pluto is the largest resident of the Kuiper Belt, with a diameter of 1,474 miles (2,371 km).

The research team first spotted 2015 RR245 in February of this year, while poring over images that the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope in Hawaii took in September 2015 as part of the ongoing Outer Solar System Origins Survey (OSSOS).

"There it was on the screen — this dot of light moving so slowly that it had to be at least twice as far as Neptune from the sun," Bannister said.

Take it in the context in which it written. Subject was eateries, not bloody racialist commentary.

Hair trigger sensibilities were not what expected to find on this thread.

Adios

No Hair trigger sensibilities here.
Just stating the facts, as I perceive them, of why the Chinese community does so well in any given community it integrates with.
No racism was intended, implied, or included in the post.

Adios

Your choice.

I was fortnate enough to have missed that one, although I do get the occasional guys who go all gymnastic on the straphanger poles.

I thought worms were involved also?

Hmmmm ... don't think you read what I thought I had written.

All I was trying to say was a large influx of anything is frightening to those who are already there. Swapping Muslims for Chinese won't change it.

But thanks for the irony.

Well kids, I’m off for the night. This weekend is Conference weekend, so I may or may not show up for very long — mostly off and on, but I will be here. ;o]

I can’t get it on the few channels I have on TV, so I will have to watch it while I’m sitting here. I’m looking forward to it, for sure.

Evening! I was in bed part of the afternoon, then worked on making pasta sauce for tomorrow’s Missionaries of the Poor lunch. Tom and Elen will take it down to Monroe because we have several schedule conflicts.

The article did mention worms. Of course in the video you couldn’t see crickets either, just something in her cupthing..

I suspicion since she was throwing crickets and worms she picked them up in the reptilefood section at her neighborhood Petco and the worms were probably meal worms. Neither they nor crickets are harmful to humans. Of course Gothomites wouldn’t know that since the only insectoid life they encounter are of the nonsmoke-able roach variety.

Wonder how she likes the room at Bellevue...

I have no idea whatever possessed me to get up this early, but I’m here. I can’t go to Wally’s, I can’t get gas, I can’t get the truck washed, and I don’t feel like cleaning house.

So what good am I? Haha. Time lies heavy when there are no plans. *sigh* Maybe I will build a box and put some things in it. Or clean off the table so I can pin my dress out. Sewing it is going to be excruciating, since all I have are “plastical” patio chairs. The chairs that came with the table had cane seats, and they were in sad condition. So sad, in fact, they would have had to be re-caned.

* * *

I thought I posted this, but I got side-tracked and went wool-gathering. *sheesh*

Good morning. I’ve cleaned up from the Overnight People and made the sauce. Next I need to cut up vegetables for the salad.

I’ve had my breathing treatment, and read some Doctrine, and I’m ready for what comes. Or doesn’t. Haha.

Next, I will clean off the table and extend the leaves (YAY!) so I can pin out the dress. :o])

Yesterday, in a fit of semi-genius, I drew up a list of things to do to keep me busy. It’s pretty sad when I can’t think of that on my own...

At any rate, I’m ready for the day.

Rushing about here. Pat is taking the fudz to the car for the MOP delivery. Elen is dressed, but there’s no sign of Tom the Driver.

The fabric is on the table, awaiting the pattern pieces and pins. It’s not going to be an easy job, I can tell. My back is not cooperating, since there is a low front on the way.

However, I will do what I can do. And sit out the rest. Since I seldom eat at the table, it doesn’t matter how long I take to get this part of the dress done. The pain will regulate how quickly I get the pinning and cutting out of the way.

Maybe one of these days, I can get more photos scanned. It needs to be done, for sure.

I hope your trip to the MOP comes off with no major problems, though not having a driver should be rectified, since there are no mice of suitable sizes to pull to coach...

Tom has emerged. Off they go with the noodle dish, the salad, lots of cakes, bread, and 300 foam plates.

Next I need to get song sheets ready for choir practice. And get dressed!

Good!

I have the leafs of the table extended and the fabric on it, but will have to take a pain pill before I start to pin out the fabric. (This used to be so easy....)

If I could, I’d go to Wally’s just to get some exercise where I don’t have to worry about little unleashed, yapping dogs running out to greet me with their teeth bared.

In order to make room for the extended table, I had to move the fan and that may be a semi-permanent thing. At least until I get the fabric cut. Which may be another week, the way I feel right now.

.

I’m dressed, the song sheets are printing, and now I’m going to find Kathleen and comb her hair. Ah, I hear that she’s gone outside!
