New Dwarf Planet Discovered Far Beyond Pluto's Orbit

Pluto isn't quite as lonely as scientists had thought.

Astronomers have discovered another dwarf planet in the Kuiper Belt, the ring of icy objects beyond Neptune. But this newfound world, dubbed 2015 RR245, is much more distant than Pluto, orbiting the sun once every 700 Earth years, scientists said. (Pluto completes one lap around the sun every 248 Earth years.)

"The icy worlds beyond Neptune trace how the giant planets formed and then moved out from the sun," discovery team member Michele Bannister, of the University of Victoria in British Columbia, said in a statement. "They let us piece together the history of our solar system."

...

The exact size of 2015 RR245 is not yet known, but the researchers think it's about 435 miles (700 kilometers) wide. Pluto is the largest resident of the Kuiper Belt, with a diameter of 1,474 miles (2,371 km).

The research team first spotted 2015 RR245 in February of this year, while poring over images that the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope in Hawaii took in September 2015 as part of the ongoing Outer Solar System Origins Survey (OSSOS).

"There it was on the screen — this dot of light moving so slowly that it had to be at least twice as far as Neptune from the sun," Bannister said.

Twenty-four hours ago, the “futurecast” was that the monsoonal moisture that Tucson and Phoenix were getting would pass us by. HAH! About 1330, it began pouring rain, and since they were hugh drops, I knew they wouldn’t last. But fifteen minutes later, it poured! With lots of thunder boomers. Haha. So much for “no rain.” And through it all the humidity never got above 15%. :o]

Route 66 is rapidly approaching, next stop The Twilight Zone...

Which is where I are. *cue the music*

Yes, ma’am. Fascinating place, the desert. St George has a similar climate, but about 15 degrees cooler over all (I WILL miss the high thermometer readings!) and a spectacular 360 view. If I want snow, it’s up the hill an hour to Cedar City.

So I think I’ll be happy there. :o] As long as I can leave my baggage behind.

I wouldn’t mind an average 15 degrees cooler.

Taking a fight with a transfer is a good way to loose baggage. Especial between Thanksgiving and New Years day.

As of now we’re expecting a lot of rain on Wednesday morning. We’ll see what happens.

It’s certainly a thought worth considering.

In political discussions with Bill the Son, a consensus has emerged that our society has no stomach for letting people deal with the consequences of their choices. Therefore, everything will continue as it is, until suddenly it can’t.

Our society is fine with letting everyone else deal with the consequences of their actions. We don’t want to deal with our own so we set it up so nobody will have to.

I just spent 45 minutes with an attorney, and he was good to me: I can pay him in installments! *ouch for today for sure*

He said:

1. You don’t need a Trust
2. Your Will is good, but needs to be revised (obviously)
3. When I come next, I will bring witnesses and a Notary

He lives about three blocks from here. So all is good.

Mmmmm, maybe. I'll have to give that some thought. However, Jamie My Hairdresser has arrived, so thought will have to wait.

Yes, thinking is best while mowing the lawn. It’s not great while getting hair done.

When I go to the Google search page it wishes me a happy birthday.

And that's just the tip of the mountain of data Goo-Gle has on you.

And has 'shared' with NSA/FBI/CIA/Homeland Security and other of that ilk..

Happy Three Score Minus Four.. :-)
