New Dwarf Planet Discovered Far Beyond Pluto's Orbit

Pluto isn't quite as lonely as scientists had thought.

Astronomers have discovered another dwarf planet in the Kuiper Belt, the ring of icy objects beyond Neptune. But this newfound world, dubbed 2015 RR245, is much more distant than Pluto, orbiting the sun once every 700 Earth years, scientists said. (Pluto completes one lap around the sun every 248 Earth years.)

"The icy worlds beyond Neptune trace how the giant planets formed and then moved out from the sun," discovery team member Michele Bannister, of the University of Victoria in British Columbia, said in a statement. "They let us piece together the history of our solar system."

...

The exact size of 2015 RR245 is not yet known, but the researchers think it's about 435 miles (700 kilometers) wide. Pluto is the largest resident of the Kuiper Belt, with a diameter of 1,474 miles (2,371 km).

The research team first spotted 2015 RR245 in February of this year, while poring over images that the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope in Hawaii took in September 2015 as part of the ongoing Outer Solar System Origins Survey (OSSOS).

"There it was on the screen — this dot of light moving so slowly that it had to be at least twice as far as Neptune from the sun," Bannister said.

I don’t know if I was just fortunate in those days, but with the $$ I was throwing at AAA every month compared to the cost of a tow when I needed it I found I was better off just paying for service.

Not that I didn’t buy a jump-starter. But that was also cheaper.

I had jumper cables, but my daughter has them, so I have kissed them goodbye. I priced them, and can’t afford them, now.

I have AAA because as a single woman, with wanderlust, I don’t want to be stuck somewhere in the middle of a vast expanse of scrub oak and cedar trees, trying to send smoke signals to the highway patrol. I pay AAA once a year.

And I seldom have money left after payday, so if I get stranded after the first week of the month, I will be just that: stranded.

Plus, they are often the first ones there after a disaster.

One does not convert from one Christian denomination to another.

Having been raised Episcopalian, educated Roman Catholic, and worshiped with just about every denomination under the sun I can tell you that the dfferences are nominal at best.

What I’ve also found is the people who most strongly argue for one over the other believe in their religion, not in the triune God.

I had cables. I don’t bother with them any more. Nobody will stop.

Now I have essentially a jumper battery with built-in cables that can be re-charged from the wall.

Along with the Mormons, but nobody talks about them being there. And I don’t know why.

One is never converted. One converts himself. Change always come from within.

All I can tell you, as an ex-Mormon, that the “Triune God” is essential in my life, and that of all practicing Mormons. We do have the occasional “jack-Mormons,” but those are mostly examples of what not to act like!

True. Southern Baptist Disaster Relief is a great organization. I send them my donation when there’s a natural disaster.

There is a 24 hours Walmart in Washington (suburb of St George) and there is also a 24 hour Walgreen’s. I couldn’t get any info on the Walgreens.

It looking better all the time!

Conversion is about a human activity, like converting from a French to a US Citizen.

So many Churches have become institutionalized that they picked up that concept. But when you meet God you haven’t converted, you’ve just had your eyes opened.

The Pastor who introduced you might care which Church you are a member of because he can hope for your donations, but that isn’t God’s concern.

Great! At this point in my life, I would not want to be without a 24-hour Walmart.

There are some Walmarts around which don’t open until 0700 and 0800, and that’s just too late for me. I don’t have the stamina to wait. My body and mind function much better in the early hours.

God sent Jesus and his Apostles into the world without purse or scrip, and they had everything they needed. If I can’t join a church without contributing massive amounts of “tithes” that support a pastor, I won’t join. Period.

God wants your heart, not your money.

Wherever two or more are gathered in his name (his real name) he is there.

Of course!

:>)

String theory, as I understand, allows for parallel universes operating simultaneously.

And there we are...or here...or maybe someplace else....

Regardless....Cats are pulling strings and devastating fauna and flora wherever.
