I just back from banging on doors in the heat for the Donald Trump campaign. Had a great time and want to share some impressions:
-There are a lot of folks who are undecided but reachable. We might want to critique the LIV but guess what? Chances are they're going to decide the outcome.
- It's a lot more fun to spend time with like minded (that is to say, sane) volunteers.
- there are not nearly enough folks doing the lifting.
So, if you can spend a couple of hours and want to meet some good folks who care about the future of our country, look up your local party or contact the campaign and please GOYBAKOD.
Know the state well. Lived there for years, in Annandale off of Braddock Road in Canterbury Woods. Even though Annandale High School was closer went to W.T. Woodson High School. It’s a swing state due to the Northern Virginia area.
It’s nice and peaceful at our house now.
I commend the poster for his work. Many of us spend too much time just griping to one another, and the poster is actually getting it done. This really is what it will take. I pray there are enough of us who will actually work. We have less than 4 months left, the election will be upon us before we know it. There are many millions who never vote. For us to win, they have to be reached.
I honestly think the Benghazi photo of our dead hero's did it. That and the getting away with private servers. One's husband is the head of computer security at a BIG company. She said her husband would have been FIRED if he had done anything close to what Hillary has done.
I am now becoming more vocal on social media and don't give a "Rat's A$$" if I'm unfriended. So be it!
You are absolutely right. I’m nice to the kids pressured by their schools to sell stuff I don’t need, but our homes are our castles, even if it is a 3 BR ranch.
I had a lawn service salesman come to my door a while back. I was in bed with a cluster headache and I do my own yard work, but this butthole-with-arms must have sensed someone was home because he rang the doorbell over-and-over, then kept banging on the door.
So I got out of bed and ran him off. The next day I called his company and complained. Then I got the sign. Now I just call the cops.
Solicitors can leave literature if they want, but like on-line salesmen that don’t want your e-mail, that want your telephone number, they want to talk to you.
So anyone “banging on doors” for Trump—good on you and more power to you. I encourage it. But use some common sense or with some voters you may do more harm than good.
God bless you, madame patriot.
The People’s Republic of Northern VA is a millstone. Va would be solid red if not for it.
Thanks.
We tend to forget that places like FR are nice, but are not reflective of the views of the population as a whole.
The choice is a pretty simple one for me. I’d rather take a few hours and pound on some doors now than wake up to President Hitlery in November.
That, and those freaking non-stop phone calls are a GREAT way to piss off the voters."
Yeah! Because sitting on our butts, pounding our keyboards, and preaching to the FReep choir has been so effective the last 15 years, hasn't it?
Do I really need a /sarc tag? If so, here it is.../sarc

You are so right! FR and similar sites are very valuable n terms of sharing information. Truth is, “Joe Average” or “Joe Never Votes” will never visit here. His news is what he gets off TV or maybe the paper,or just sort of absorbs. Directly targeting those folks is crucial. It’s one (not the only) reason the slimy dems win presidential elections far more than we’d lke—they get out. Just in the last few years a friggin’ foreigner (Swiss, can’t remember his name) put over 100 million into get out the vote efforts, and I guarantee you that even though it is supposed to be non-partisan, every single dollar went to get dem voters out. SO, thank you for getting out there. I can’t walk streets any more but I can call, and have volunteered with the campaign to do so.
Also, we almost try to give as much money as we can. Not fair or even realistic to expect Trump to foot the bill. What’s our country worth to each one of us—priceless. So, let’s dig up a few more bucks every time we can and give directly to the campaign.
Those who are capable need to take a few hours to preserve the future of this country.
It’s also really interesting and eye-opening to see what attitudes are. The level of discussion here is very different than what I see in talking to folks.

Learning about the factor life take time and effort, and most people don’t put in the time, others just don’t have the ability. They do no more than absorb vague media-driven agendas, pick up a few buzz words, and look at things in a very simplistic matter. No sense of cause and effect, no sense of the forces that have and continue to shape policy, no sense of how false is the media narrative on almost all issues. Pop culture, pop politics, and sport is all the average man seems to grasp. This includes the young with college degrees.
“Yeah! Because sitting on our butts, pounding our keyboards, and preaching to the FReep choir has been so effective the last 15 years, hasn’t it?”
Just because one thing hasn’t worked doesn’t mean banging on doors will. Are you really that stupid?
“Put up a “No Soliciting” sign. You can get them at Home Depot or Lowe’s.”
They don’t work. The same idiots banging on doors think such sign do not pertain to them. “Gosh, it’s not like I’m selling anything.”
You are AWESOME. Thank you for doing this and for posting about it. It motivates me to get involved.
Please understand, RKBA Democrat, I think what you’re doing is great and hope you keep up the good work.
But “A door is an invitation to knock.” “Banging on doors.”?
Just show circumspection in walking up to peoples’ front doors, and you shouldn’t have any problems. If in doubt, have some flyers you can leave.
I’m actually having a lot of fun with it. The volunteers are good folks. Some serious comradery that I think can be missing at times.
With respect, this is sales work. You can’t make a sale if you won”t knock on the door.
Keep in mind that the people we’re pitching to (we believe) have NOT made up their mind. These are folks who are not engaged. Think about that for a moment. The campaign has been going on for a year. You can’t get away from it. It’s a bit dumbfounding in truth to encounter people who really haven’t come to a decision. So, you get up your moxey and you bang on the door and try to engage them. The alternative is we leave it to the opposition to do the same.
Obviously you’re looking to persuade so you don”t want to tick off the person your approaching. So you don’t get in their space. If it’s obvious that they’re not interested, you politely leave.
No, but apparently you are to think pounding on a keyboard to the like minded will do anything other than continue to lose ground for us. Hell's bells, pounding on doors worked better for us in the 80s than keyboard commando tactics have ever since the internet came out and people got lazy.
At least some of us are trying to do something, coward.
