Please understand, RKBA Democrat, I think what you’re doing is great and hope you keep up the good work.
But “A door is an invitation to knock.” “Banging on doors.”?
Just show circumspection in walking up to peoples’ front doors, and you shouldn’t have any problems. If in doubt, have some flyers you can leave.
With respect, this is sales work. You can’t make a sale if you won”t knock on the door.
Keep in mind that the people we’re pitching to (we believe) have NOT made up their mind. These are folks who are not engaged. Think about that for a moment. The campaign has been going on for a year. You can’t get away from it. It’s a bit dumbfounding in truth to encounter people who really haven’t come to a decision. So, you get up your moxey and you bang on the door and try to engage them. The alternative is we leave it to the opposition to do the same.
Obviously you’re looking to persuade so you don”t want to tick off the person your approaching. So you don’t get in their space. If it’s obvious that they’re not interested, you politely leave.
