Enjoy a respite from the sad goings on of the day.
Please post and share your pics of birds, nature, anything the Good Lord has created.
Remembering Swampsniper....may you rest easy, good man.

Mr Limpkin shared a sun rise with me.
There's got to a snail here somewhere!
Who are all these strangers invading my territory?
Oh deer!

I used to kayak the Potomac and the Occoquan, and I’d see Ospreys. They build nests sometimes atop navigational pylons, and they are real territorial. They’d get big and loud whenever I’d paddle withing 50 feet. Them, Kingfishers and Eagles were common sights.

Recent photo of a female Pileated woodpecker in my backyard.
To: FamiliarFace
There is very little difference between the males and the females and I couldn't tell which was which. A couple of years ago I watched 2 male Pileateds fight over a female. That was exciting they flew all over my back yard for 30 minutes. I couldn't tell any difference then because they moved so quickly but it was obvious from their behavior what they were doing.

My best hummingbird shot so far. I like his tiny feet!
To: Ditter
If you get your binoculars out, you can see a red swatch on the male’s cheek. Plus, I think the female is a tiny bit bigger,
To: FamiliarFace
I saw that difference in my bird book but they were moving too quickly for me to see today.

Thanks, I am working on taking better photos. I am such a newbie to photography. I have so much to learn.
