He used to do a show on Saturday nights in Philadelphia back in the mid 90s. I'd listen whenever I didn't have anything else going on. I appreciated that he was absolutely fearless, this guy said outrageous things compared to the other hosts in those days. Things about the dems and the Clintons that guys like Rush would simply hint at subtly Tom Marr would just throw out there; he always went for the throat!
Eventually they lured him up to do afternoons but then instead of doing his show they forced him to do infomercials for stuff disquised as his show. He quit that almost immediately and I have only heard him a handful of times since. Always enjoyed his shows whenever I did get to hear one.
RIP, Tom. RIP.
They stuffed him with Susan Bray, sho spoke with an combination of a MidAtlantic and Aussie accent. It was OK for a while, then, as you said they started having on doctors selling products and it was really weird. Then he and Susan were replaced by Kent Voss, whom I would crank call from time to time.
One day, I heard Sid Mark, of Friday With Frank fame, say something like "It's funny, I went to high school with Susan in Camden, and she never talked with that accent..." Which was not true, so I don't know why he said it.
With Tom's passing, so goes a small, but important piece of America...
