For those of us with space to spare, our workbenches tend to sprawl. The others who are more space limited will certainly feel envy at [Love Hultén]s beautiful Tempel workbench.
The workbench appears at first to be a modern interpretation of a secretarys desk. There are some subtle hints that it is no ordinary piece of furniture. The glowing model of our solar system on the front, for example.

Yes, well THIS is what passes for a “Secretary” these days...:
Sad, really.
Yes, like something out of a Heathkit catalogue or the building plans section of an old Popular Mechanics magazine.
I had a drop-front desk when I was a kid. It ended up being filled with small tools and various supplies from my hobbies. Tins of airgun pellets, fishing line, woodburning tool - the usual. :-) I would've flipped out over something with a Jetsons-like flat video screen that popped up.
Well, then again...
She really looks like she could handle anything that came her way, so I suppose that’s a good thing. :)
That is a very wimpy work bench.
Rebuild your motorcycle engine on it and it would bet all used up in one week.
No reloading section. No grinder. No vise. Where do I sharpen the chain saw?
Where is the rifle vise for cleaning, changing sights, etc?
Granted the definition of “Secretary” has been brutally tarnished now, but perhaps we can find someone in the near future who can help re-establish what the position means.
And don’t get Me started on why “Infantryman” is a valid title not subject to the PC maneuverings that the crowd at the White Hut is so keen on pressing upon the rest of us.
“Infantry-person”
“Corps-person”
“Rifle-person”
Bloody ‘ell!
Has everyone in charge gone bloody bonkers then?
... And I have a workbench made entirely out of used wooden shipping pallets (sp?). It’s not going to win any awards for appearance’s sake, but it certainly gets the job done. :)
Well, it looks about the right size for the guitar work I do. I’m using an old jeweler’s desk foir that work right now. Lots of smamall drawers for parts. But I have an almost wall long bench with mounted buffers and grinders for the serious work that this nice bench could never handle.
It’s obviously an electronics workstation. I have a similar setup for “fine” work. On the other side of my shop I have a much heavier, dirtier bench for rough jobs. I also have a second shop for woodwork with a dust system and a seperate room for paint and finishing.
Nice piece of furniture, but not sure how utilitarian it is.
I could see using it as a TV stand in my workshop...or a bar.
This is a WORKbench
Shitchyea! :-)
