Pro-independence Texans werent the only ones energized by the vote by Brexit vote.
The California secession movement has been riding a wave of interest since Thursdays vote by the United Kingdom to leave the European Union. The campaign has already gained a Brexit-inspired nickname: Calexit
We have a lot of people sending us messages and a lot of people want to find our online digital version of our independence referendum, said Louis Marinelli, who heads the Yes California Independence Campaign. We have a lot of people who have joined our Facebook page, a lot of people who are talking about this issue on Twitter. The #Calexit hashtag for example has begun organically. Theres another one called #Caleavefornia.
Yes California, which formed in August after the shuttering of Sovereign California, has been gathering support for an initiative aimed at November 2020 that would begin the process of severing California from the union.
What makes the Brexit vote so important is that it shows secession isnt just a relic of the 19th century, said Mr. Marinelli.
This is an example of an independence movement occurring in the Western world, a modern-day, 21st century [case] of a political entity seceding from a political union, he said. And so now Californians who hear the word secession, they dont have to think of the Civil

No chips, just tired of asshats talking out
of their asses. Not enough for Cali to be an
independent country. You would also have it
destroyed by earthquake. Who really has the
shoulder chip? Why do people like you feel the
need to lurk a website based in California, hosted
by a Californian, and sponsored by more Californians
than anybody else and then lump us all into one?
You would hate California if it were the most
conservative state in the union because you
found yourself stuck in the dank, boring Rust
Belt and California gets raves for its’ climate
options. A chip on my shoulder? Look in the
mirror, Ace.
You mean the 5~10 million illegals from mexico who are currently squatting in California? That army?
Your governor and his MILLIONS of liberal supporters in california just rammed through a bunch of laws to effectively disarm anyone who could stop the invasion.
California is in a very precarious situation right now.
I would get banned if I responded to you in the way you deserve. I know California well. My brother lives there. My mother and father are buried there. So take your high horse where the sun don’t shine. And I do not live in the ‘rust belt’. You got rusty orange groves? You have a preponderance of the most leftist pols. And we don’t have half the population speaking Spanish and pledging allegiance to Mexico.
If you cannot afford a doctor you will just have to make a deal, have your family throw in, or let nature take its course.
I am very close to the mandatory Medicare age right now, and I don’t understand in a country where we are suppose to be able to live free, how we can be REQUIRED TO pay for Medicare.
In previous generations people would only pay for services they could afford, if it was out of reach for the family, the Church at times would help.
If a 70 year old man would get something that would shorten his life, or immediately threaten it, he would first weigh the cost, what he had set aside, and decide if the money was better spent as a legacy. It was not uncommon for him to weigh the money as a legacy for his family, and spurn treatment to pass the money down. Seriously, who would go for a $500K dollar heart surgery, if the way of getting it was to saddle his children and grandchildren with that debt?
Now if he wanted to ask them if they would take on this debt, it is within his rights, but if he DEMANDS his Children and Grandchildren pay for it, OR OTHERS, that is morally wrong, and a theft.
There really are worse things than death, and the indentured servitude of 50% or our labor, we owe to government is one of those things. That servitude is the price we pay for the illusion of “free stuff” from govt.
I would like to breathe the air of true freedom once. I still remember a bit of what “the old Republic” was like. I would like to be part of rebuilding that again, even if it just in a small way.
Well, Mr “Healing Center”. You suggest prayer be utilized
that “Kalifornia” experience an earthquake that would
drop it into the ocean. A real man of God you are. You
must really be fond of your brother to be willing to pray
for that type of demise for him. You have other living
relatives out here you would like to see perish in an
earthquake?
That you say you know California well because your brother
lives here just shows how little you really do know.
Unlike the craphole you call home California has a
variety of different geographies and people. Your
brother lives in just one of many varied places.
Now, why don’t you go get yourself healed and THEN
come back and tell me what I really deserve?
