Some friends and I conducted a non-scientific telephone poll between June 24 to June 26. I used the following cell phone number Area Code and Pre-fixes and a common first number found with each followed by three numbers at random.
706-302-5xxx
706-333-5xxx
706-416-2xxx
706-594-4xxx
706-780-1xxx
404-423-1xxx
678-633-0xxx
678-677-0xxx
250 registered voters "who plan on voting" were polled. Non-registered voters or registered voters who plan not to vote were not counted.
Affiliation was 37% Democrat, 44% Republican, 19% Independent.
Ethnicity: White 82% Non-white 18%
Military Family (active or retired): 23%
Question asked: If the election were held today, who would you vote for: Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton?
West Georgia, which is south of Atlanta, consists mainly of the small to medium sized cities of Newnan, Lagrange, Columbus, Peachtree City and Carrolton.
The area tends to be fairly affluent and conservative and votes usually republican.
The Columbus area has a large military population at Fort Benning.
Non-white voters tend to vote democrat over 85% of the time.
The poll results would be skewed towards the republican or conservative candidate. Still I find the result surprising, and may reflect other parts of Georgia.
Results:
Overall Trump 56%--Clinton 44%
White: 67% Trump--Clinton 33%
Non-White: 33% Trump--Clinton 67%
Military: Trump 81%--Clinton 19%
Republican: Trump 88%--Clinton 12%
Democrat: Trump 37%--Clinton 63%
Independent: Trump 68%--Clinton 32%
It’s skewed. No question, but I was encouraged by the military vote and the non-white votes. Also, I think the % of dems for Trump is high.
This area is a good microcosm for how the rest of the South goes.
2004?
Does anyone here believe the Wash. Post polling?
Fair enough ...still isn’t deliverance country
Actually this is a very, very strong Trump poll. He is tracking 33% of non white vote. That relates to a major landslide.
Trump needs to hammer home the concept that illegals are stealing black jobs and he is going to put a stop to it. Drive that wedge into their base...
For whom do these folks plan to vote?
As for the wrong life-style, the Clintons' corruption and sexual harassment/allegations of rape are the worst of any candidate.
At this stage, not supporting Trump is exactly what Hillary hopes will happen among the GOP/Conservatives.
Stupid post.
Oh agreed. Sorry if I gave any other impression.
>>Non-White: 33% Trump—Clinton 67%
That’s a really, really interesting number right there. I’m guessing that in West Georgia the non-white demographic would be overwhelmingly black. Unlike, say, in Gwinnett County, where it would be strongly Asian.
I saw Herman speak about a year ago. He told the room to watch Trump, that he was likely going to surprise a lot of people and go a lot further than expected. I wish I had video of that talk.
I love him. His radio show is spot on
Well if Trump gets 33% of the non white vote and 37% of the Dem vote its over. or either one.
Good showing for Trump among the independents.....
I live in Columbus, GA. The area described corresponds well to CD 3 (rep. L. Westmoreland). Whoever wins the Republican primary runoff will be a major upgrade, And Mike Crane could be a star.
The numbers reported sound reasonable, though some of the black people I work with presently say they can’t vite for either.
At least he made the effort.
What have you done?
Thank you for your post.
I am also an independent evangelical Baptist and have run into exactly what you have. I’ve tried to make the same points to my church that you stated without much success. My congregation is also politically very ignorant and that inhibits the argument.
‘Pod
Well I know of one person (that I consider a nut job, not because of this stance but just because he is a nut) that is pushing that all Christians should vote for the Constitution party. Everyone else has no comment but I think 85-90% of them will end up voting Trump and the rest just not voting.
Yes a non vote or vote for anyone other than Trump at this point is basically playing into Hillary’s hands.
As far as the lifestyle goes - there is not a Democrat in the entire nation I would support EVER. The ones that say they do not support this or that personally but either vote for it or abstain is just BS. They support it by being a Democrat. Hate at least half of the Republicans for the same reason.
