I meant to post this a couple days ago but have been busy.

I noticed on twitter that Amex is now using the symbol stolen from the Scripture by the homosexual community--the rainbow--to symbolize the company's avatar.

the company American Express says it is commemorating homosexual behaviour throughout the month.

in return, for the month I will be using one of my Visa cards--even though I use Amex regularly because of a decent return I've enjoyed via its "points" program.

I urge any FREEPers who use credit responsibly to do the same.

My FRiends, I will likely go back to Amex once this tribute to sinful behavior is over. This is obviously a ploy by the marketing "experts" at Amex to get attention from the homosexual community. In the case of my business, it is backfiring on Amex.

Once Amex dumps this overt expression of approval, I will probably go back to using the card.

I view this differently than Target, because Target is engaging in a year round effort to encourage bad behaviour.

I have an AMEX card through Fidelity Investments. Fidelity just canned AMEX and is replacing it with a Visa credit card.

I stopped using AmEx since 2002 when I realized their cards had no advantage anymore.

Back in the day AmEx used to be the only travel card that guaranteed to work everywhere. That stopped years ago.

thanks. I use my Amex quite a bit. I enjoy the discipline it brings in paying the account off every month.

This month (or until the nonsense ends) they will see a marked difference at least in my account. i have already made three or four purchases on my visa card and am making payments on that card NOW.

Every little bit matters.

I really do believe this is the right thing to do. Less money during this time period may make the “bottom line” folks at Amex see that this is not the way to go.

And even if they don’t see the truth, I know that i am doing the right thing by withholding my business from such an operation.

Cash may be contaminated with dope but you don’t need a big bank based banking system to use it.

Which is why they want to get rid of cash, but that’s another story.
