I have a facebook account under a silly name that I use to log into other sites to make political comments.
Today facebook has demanded that I upload a photo ID from a state-issued driver's license, passport, military ID card, etc. before I can log in again.
I have screen shots of the demands that I will upload to this thread when I get home.
It may be time to go dark on the Interwebs. My spidey sense is tingling.
What Kingu said in post 20. FB has been cracking down on obviously fake names for quite some time. Make a new account under a plausible name.
silly names often get flagged...Do it again under another fake name that sounds real.
Or photoshop an ID.

That request looks racist. Democrats tell us that blacks, especially, have a hard time getting photo id’s.
If you use ANYTHING but a “real name” (or real-sounding name), Fecesbook policy is to demand proof of identity. But it’s not the NSA, it’s worse. It’s ADVERTISERS.
Remember, on Fecesbook, you’re not the customer, you’re the product. . . and they want to link you to all the products you buy and/or examine online, to better provide tailored adverts to sell you stuff you don’t need. . .

But one can vote all they want with no ID.
Did they nor respond with an “oh...ok”?
Gmail tried that with me insisting my name made no sense and was probably fake[ it was] and would I prove that I was known by that name by linking to some place on line where I used that name.
I said not just no but never...I get a response that was “Ok”. Not bothered by them again.
Mot to say they would not try but after 18mos or so, no more issues except for periodic requested to link my phone...another ignore.
I guess it would be OK if a person has the same name as someone famous like Thomas Edison or Henry Ford, but it must be awful if your name is Charles Manson or Ted Bundy.

Technically, I believe making copies of a government-issued ID is prohibited.
Facebook and Google are selling INFO on everyone. Not to long ago PC insurance companies got their info from Equifax. Not so now. Ask your insurer or simply read where they got their INFO.
AFAIC Facebook is a giant invitation to undress in public. Thus I’m a FB parasite in that I use it to look in on other people, and absolutely not to post anything about myself

We live in the digital age, make up a fake ID with Photoshop and send it in. Facebook can’t claim you were committing fraud because they’re giving away the service for free.
