I have a facebook account under a silly name that I use to log into other sites to make political comments.
Today facebook has demanded that I upload a photo ID from a state-issued driver's license, passport, military ID card, etc. before I can log in again.
I have screen shots of the demands that I will upload to this thread when I get home.
It may be time to go dark on the Interwebs. My spidey sense is tingling.
make sure you have anti-virus and malware bytes installed
This does not sound right...
Mark zuckerberg did call all Facebook users effing retards. People just volunteer all kinds of information.
I want to see those. I’ll check back later.
Yes, this sounds like a scam. Be careful.
I’ve heard they do this.
The EU has demanded people use state issued IDs in order to log on...to anything!! Not a l;aw yet but soon.

Now? It always was...
Wow, this is crazy and spooky. Have never heard of this. I have an FB I use to look in on kids, grand kids, one old girlfriend, and others. I never post or share, maybe make a few comments. I have little to no info about me.
I will say FB is incredibly efficient and more incredibly insidious.
they have been after me for a while to post a photo of myself.
I, for one, love it. Helps me dig up and fill in the blanks on many of my investigations and the younger they are the more info they volunteer. I especially like the bong and drug use pics. Really helps me when I'm doing my criminal history checks.../s
They did this to our account about 6 months ago, never went back, and opened new ones for both the mrs and I.
If it weren’t for the 3 or 4 sale pages i frequent, I would say goodbye, may still.
FB knows through “cookies” and stuff when more than one FB user is logging on using the same computer. I had to delete my fake one b/c it always wanted a phone number or something when it sensed the second user logging in.
FB has long had a policy of discouraging fake names. I know a few folks that have run afoul of it. Nothing terribly new or exciting about it.
Would you please look directly into your toast?
Came across that very issue the other day...but was not, am not, and never will be FBid

What types of ID does Facebook accept?
You can confirm your identity in 1 of 3 ways. When submitting documentation, please cover up any personal information we don’t need to verify your identity (ex: credit card number, Social Security number). We encrypt peoples connections to Facebook by default, including IDs you send to us. We delete your ID information after verification is complete.
Option 1: Government ID
One government-issued ID that contains your name and date of birth or your name and photo. Examples include:
Passport
Voter ID card
Drivers license
Birth certificate
Marriage certificate
Official name change paperwork
Tribal identification or status card
Personal or vehicle insurance card
Green card, residence permit or immigration papers
Non-driver’s government ID (ex: disability, SNAP card, national ID card)
and another page or three of id options.
Ebay did that to me too, but it was after I had made a UK purchase while I was in the UK...
You had someone file a complaint against you, someone at Facebook looked, saw what looked like a fake name...
You can reply that you’re a drag queen and you’re worried that by providing the required documentation that you will be punished by your community for using your real name.
Either way, no, Facebook is not the NSA, it is infested with social justice warriors who use every tool they can to silence anyone who doesn’t toe their lines.
Or just make a new facebook account using a plausible name.
