Now desert, then lakes. The climate has been changing ever since there was an Earth.

Lakes that dried up millennia ago.
Because the ancient Mongolians used hair spray cans, apparently.

Has anyone taken a stab in explaining what caused the drastic environmental change (I mean other than Bush's fault)? If they can answer that, then maybe we could figure out a way to reverse the trend. Who knows, maybe we would have new arable land in a thousand years or so.
It would also would be interesting as compared and contrasted to modern theories of global warming (which I think are nonsense). For example what would happen if the desolation of the Gobi could be linked to a decrease in atmospheric CO2? We might discover that a CO2 concentration of 1,000 ppb is much more conducive to life on Earth and in that case, burn away!

#5 Paul Bunyan use to chop down trees in the Sahara forest.
With one swing of his double-bladed axe he could chop down 25 trees.
Paul and Babe went for a walk in Minnesota. Everywhere they stepped they left their footprints. The footprints filled with water making Minnesota the Land of a Ten Thousand Lakes.
True story.
