Hope you enjoy. Cara Mia
music *ping*
That man could flat out sing.
When you get the vidio up look over to the right. There’s a link to Jay singing this song in 2011. Old dude’s still got it.
Is that the same Jay in 2011? I know they had a couple different leads. It’s kinda confusing when you read about them on who’s who . Whatever, he’s marvelous.
Pretty sure this singer of “Cara Mia” is the second Jay, whose surname was Blatt.
You’re just full of good tunes! Another of my favorites.

You are absolutely correct.
Jay Black (David Blatt) was the second Jay and is the same singer in the video posted and the 2011 video.
After the break up of the group, Jay Black (Blatt) toured as Jay and the Americans with new members. Due to debt (from gambling) his had to sell the name, Jay and the Americans which was purchased by some of the original members who are now touring with a different Jay.
Jay Black performs as Jay Black. (sorry I do not know the timeline)
The first Jay (John Traynor) left (foolishly) after their 1st hit “She Cried”.
I know they had a couple different leads.
Just two both stage named Jay, but the first Jay’s stint with the band was very short. Any songs you know and hear are the second Jay. For all intents and purposes, he’s the only Jay.
And YES, He can STILL (2011) hit the high ones. Sounds as good as EVER!
“This Magic Moment” is “our song”.
I was young (preteen) when the Cara Mia became popular but have always loved it...it pulls at me emotionally.
I did not realize until the first Jays (Traynor) death in 2o14 that two Jays were associated with the group. It was at the time, I researched the group and purchased their CDs (with Jay Black) of which I love listening while driving.
I have several of the group’s 45s in my collection. One of the original Americans, Kenny Vance, later started a group who did this:

Donald Fagen and Walter Backer (Steely Dan) did a stint with Jay and the Americans in 1970-71
Thanks for the link.
During my research, I had come across Kenny Vance and his doo wop music - enjoyed it very much.
