During the June 13 monologue on Conan, host Conan O’Brien referenced the Orlando terror attack and said no one should be able to own “a semiautomatic rifle.”

He described semiautomatic rifles as “weapons of war” that “have no place in civilian life.”

They’ve used bombs. They’ve used acid. They’ve used knives. They’ve used hijacked airplanes (hijacked with box cutters). They’ve used steam cookers. etc. There are so many ways for people who are motivated to hurt or kill to do so. They can use cars. They can use drones. They can use anthrax or equivalent. They can use illegally acquired surface to air missiles, or even lasers. They can sabotage bridges, and railroads. They blew up a truck full of explosives underground during the first World Trade Center bombing.

The bottom line is that the problem is the hatred, and the ideology. Even if many of these people have psychological problems at baseline, this philosophy of hate is drawing people with these problems to act out their aggressions. That guy could just have easily blown up that entire night club, with no one surviving.
