Mel Gibson is reportedly preparing a sequel to his 2004 film The Passion of the Christ.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Gibson is working with Oscar-nominated Braveheart screenwriter Randall Wallace to pen the sequel, which will tell the story of Jesus’s resurrection.

“I always wanted to tell this story,” Wallace told THR. “The Passion is the beginning and there’s a lot more story to tell.”

Gibson and Wallace most recently worked together on the upcoming World War II drama Hacksaw Ridge, which the former directed and the latter co-wrote. The pair reportedly began working on the Passion sequel in earnest while filming Ridge.

Despite the periodic transgressions we have heard of and criticized, Gibson's "Passion" was a masterpiece, IMHO.

One of my all-time favorite actors.

Agree. I also loved Apocalypto. Mel is a deeply flawed man but so are we all to one degree or another.

He is amazing....

I was at the library about the same time it came out. The librarian was Jewish. Somehow the movie got mentioned. She became enraged....never saw anything like it. It's been a while but I still remember her rage being heightened by the fact that it came out on Easter. I was stunned.

Love the man dearly. He must be a good guy because Hollywood has no such love for him.

I thought that - and, also - now Gibson is going to get into the Second Coming. That could really get interesting....

The Passion of the Christ was the last movie my mom saw. We would see movies every Sunday night with my father and uncle, and my mother had become very weak, but she insisted on seeing this movie when it opened as a friday matinee in March 2004.

I’d rather he did a life of Christ without all the PC drivel that Hollywood is full of. You know, Jesus just smiling all the time while the disciples do nothing but cry all the time (I’m thinking of another recent movie). Just show more of what the Gospel is actually about.

For some reason, the word got out that Gibson had added a lot of anti-Semitic stuff to the story. He didn't "add" anything. The lines that most people found offensive came directly from Matthew's Gospel.

Apocalypto was very intense. Enjoyed it, too.

The Passion was one of the best movies ever made.

The acting, the quality of the filming, the story, everything.

And I do mean from a technical standpoint. The fact that it did not get best picture EVER shows how biased the hollywierd people are.

In reality, he could do a series on the disciples.

Each one an incredible story in their own right, bringing Christ to the corners of the empire. No disciples, no Christ.

Personally I think it is a big mistake if this is what they are going to call it.
