Hey FREEPERS, I was looking for a good Netflix or Amazon prime free movie this W/E.
I was leaning toward Vanilla Sky (I know, everyone but me hates Tom Cruz).
Anyone else see anything decent?
“Try Turner Classics.”
French Connection 8PM
Seven Ups at 10PM
Two of the best car chases in movie history!!
You know? I actually agree.
For entertainment, to my great surprise Rush has let me down a couple times.
Person of Interest has not fallen into that pattern for me, however, fortunately.
As far as TV goes, it’s very good.
Any FREEPER who hasn’t watch every episode of “Last Man Standing” has some binge watching to do....
Rush is not knowledgeable about movies. I’ve never heard him speak about movies in a way that someone like Mark Steyn does. Steyn was actually a Broadway critic who wrote a wonderful book called Broadway Babies Say Goodnight.
We taped the 1936 Show Boat off of TCM and will be watching it tonight. Helen Morgan, Irene Dunne, Paul Robeson. A classic and a treat.
I’m a great fan of the French Connection. Reminds me of my college days in NYC!
Add the earlier episodes of Midsomer Murders (murder with a sense of humor).
I loved that series Foyle’s War. Agree totally about the lead actor. Would love to see something similar.
I also liked Downton Abbey. Ripper Street was a pretty well done series about detectives at White Chapel area set just after the Ripper’s last victim. Watched it on Netflix.
Caution: pulp fiction has a sodomy rape scene.

I love Foyle’s War. It’s great.
I watched “Tampopo” on YouTube last weekend. Considered the first of the “Ramen Westerns”. The hero truck driver does wear a cowboy hat...
British TV producers make short TV series which end up feeling like an 8-10 hour movie. Good for a rainy day.
Fortitude is one such series that has a lot of dramatic twists and turns.
Watched “The Brothers Grimsby” earlier today. Irreverent to the extreme but a laugh from start to end. Doubt it is on Netflix yet but keep an eye out for it. It is truly horrible and completely hilarious. Movie opens with a man and a woman on a bed engaged in relations. Then the camera pans out a bit to show it is a mattress store. The man looks up at the shocked salesperson and says “We will take it”. The guy gets the mattress home and his kids are pushing on the back of the mattress to get it up the stairs. One of the 9 of them says hold on dad, I am getting winded. Dad says I told you not to smoke. The 10’ish year old kid says, what do you mean cigarettes? I thought you meant crack. Dad says, you are to young to smoke... At your age you should be vapeing. That is all in the first two minutes. It goes south from there.
I’m watching the new season of “Bloodlines” and “Peaky Blinders” on Netflix. Both are great. Also, “Murdoch Mysteries” set in early 1900’s in Toronto. Just finished season 9...
He is hilarious!!
Also love Foyle’s War. You might like Wolf Hall if you have Amazon Prime.
Wolf Hall
Tony Award-winning actor Mark Rylance and Emmy Award-winner Damian Lewis star as Thomas Cromwell and King Henry VIII in this adaptation of Hilary Mantel’s novels. A historical drama for a modern audience, Wolf Hall charts Cromwell’s meteoric rise in the Tudor court - from blacksmith’s son to Henry VIII’s closest advisor, trapped between his desire to do what is right and his instinct to survive.
Vintage Bergerac up until the 5th season or so is good too.
Bloodline
