He’s Larry Schweikart, historian, in case you want to search. I think it’s a band called Rampage.

I was 14 in 1972, and I am pretty sure we heard Steppenwolf perform Born to be Wild, live, at the Illinois State Jaycees track meet in Granite City, IL. (Is that possible?) It was a great childhood memory. We won the girls’ 440 relay for our age group.

I think it was Toyota or some other car company that ruined Born To Be Wild for me.

While the other band members were getting stoned, Kay was securing publishing rights and the right to the band name, and became a very rich man.

I was surprised to learn Hoyt Axton wrote The Pusher and Snowblind Friend. Mr. Never been to Spain and Joy to the World.

I was surprised to learn Hoyt Axton wrote The Pusher and Snowblind Friend. Mr. Never been to Spain and Joy to the World. He also invented The Bathroom Buddy. ;)

Axton invented the ‘buttwipe on a plastic stick’ device?
My wife has one. Golly, he was regular renaissance man!
I’ll remind her to hum ‘Joy to the World’ whenever she goes to the can.

Thank you for your works. was a groovy tune I listened to on the radio while riding in my older brother's '69 dark green El Camino with a 396 engine. That was a sweet ride with a Hurst shifter, chrome mags and the second best rumble next to the Harley 'potato potato potato'.

Great car, bad weight transfer. My 350 SS with 456 gears used to eat those cause they spun their tires for a minute at the gate.

Liked Zep, esp “Houses of the Holy.” But I heard them live and they were bad. Could have been the gym.

“Rampage” (I was the drummer.) Tge only place you can hear two of our songs is on the “Rockin’ the Wall” CD soundtrack (which is a darn good collection of music).

Also played for three nights with Jim McCarty, guitarist fot Mitch Ryder who did “Devil With a Blue Dress”. He was a superb guitarist.

Unquestionably, one of the best sings ever written, or sung, or performed, in my lifetime.
