Something strange is happening to the oceans. As coral reefs wither and fisheries collapse, octopuses are multiplying like mad... cephalopodssquids, octopuses, cuttlefishare booming, and scientists dont know why. An analysis published today in Current Biology indicates that numerous species across the worlds oceans have increased in numbers since the 1950s.
The consistency was the biggest surprise, said lead study author Zoë Doubleday of the University of Adelaide. Cephalopods are notoriously variable, and population abundance can fluctuate wildly, both within and among species.

Yummy! Deep fried rubber bands. ;-)
Many coral reefs are blanching, due to local warm temperatures. To say that fisheries are collapsing as a generality seems hard-pressed.
Goooooo ‘Pods!!!!
I prefer the Italian version...
Pirelli.
Sushi from hell!!
Wait’ Libtards keep telling me the oceans are dying...
We are on the cusp of a major mass ocean extinction...

I only had octopus once, at a Chinese restaurant, but I remember I liked it. My romantic mistake thought I was ruining her evening with my menu choices. She teally flipped when she found me finishing the leftovers for breakfast.
She had her litany of woes about evil men and I imagine some other guy down the road was listening to: “Boyfriend A beat me, boyfriend B cheated on me, boyfriend D stole my car, boyfriend E ate octopus, boyfriend F shot my dog...”

Nothing like a little hyperbole to setup the following narrative.
How about "Day of the Octopi" Or "Day of the pus".
Second one has more double entendre possibilities.
"In his house at R'lyeh, dead Cthulhu waits dreaming"
Can we feed them Barky and his ilk; Clinton and her ilk; Bushes and their ilk; the Senate, House of Representatives that have back Barky for 8 years; all government employees;
I’m sure these creatures would be so full of _hit they wouldn’t have to eat for centuries....
which had surprising benefits
Well, I don’t know about the reefs but the collapse of the North Atlantic fisheries is well documented. Why do you think hardly anyone serves cod anymore? Use to be you would even get cod in the “Filet O Fish” at McDonalds, but now all that has been replaced with pollock or haddock.
Scientists who believe in a static earth are alarmed.
You’re wrong.
Their natural predators, like the sperm whales, have been hunted nearly to extinction.
This one is on us I think.
That won't stop them from tracking it back to global warming though.
I just got back from Nice. I love a good grilled poulpe salad!
Haddock is much better tasting than Cod. And higher priced.
