Good article by tech worker suggesting his theory of demographics, artistic license and college indoctrination.
I think it has something to do with the much higher percentage of women who work there... as opposed to traditionally men-dominated industries such as steel, mining cement etc or other types of manufacturing. I sure have met plenty of conservative minded women but when you have large numbers of them in one place, socialist programs and free stuff tend to dominate more since the issue of raising families while trying to work comes into play.
The tech industry set up shop in already liberal places and adapted to the political environment.
It is not just “new” high tech start ups...
Lockheed Martin refused to be associated with the Boy Scouts after generations of cooperation. The same year they provided benefits to same sex couples.
While crying they had no more money for future pensions and had to chop benefits again...

1. Kinsey’s with Rockefeller found it was good that people were sexualy promiscuous as it would not manufacture competitors but diletante shoppers. Moreover, nothing like a little girl’s rebelious attitude and a whore wife to make them exploit a husband’s money to pay and finance some Target manager’s bottom line.
2. Communists have replaced religion as a PR voice protecting their Socially Correct or “charitable” PR stunts. So instead of having to feel guilty for not saving a Jew in Dachau or a Christian in Syria, they get approval by communists to fck off so long they fund the right communist lawyer political group
Tech companies are leftist for they same reason most media companies are: they are located in urban areas where the hiring pool is mostly Democrat. High population density isn’t just correlated with leftism, it actually causes it.

What about the rest of the companies - Target, Walmart, GE, Macy’s, etc. etc. 90+% of large companies are run by liberals and they are not 20 something.
I was referring to tech companies in general, but I don’t think Target and Walmart ARE liberal in general.
They’ll pay lip service to liberal causes that don’t impact their bottom line — like transgender bathrooms —while avoiding a $15 minimum wage and unionization to their dying breath.
I think retailers especially try to thread a tricky political needle, protecting their margins and competitive edge wherever they can. I view most of their social activism as a distraction so they can point to being on the front lines of social justice when their trade practices and labor circumstances are in the spotlight.

Bernie, since this is still a free country (sort of) of course you’re allowed to voice any opinion you wish, even if it’s dumb.
And since you hate dictatorships I take it you also wouldn’t mind if I voice my opinion of your opinion, right? :)

I am a tech professor and IT consultant and in my opinion if Google, MS, Amazon and Apple were this high profile RIGHT LEANING during 0bama they would have had a severe hair cut.
I ask freepers to think back to when Bill and Bill went golfing on Martha’s Vineyard.
The TOON asked Gates for a contribution, and Gates responded with MS’es standard 50 K. Within a few weeks Dyke Reno filed the paperwork and sued MS for antitrust violations.
On the other hand when conservatives are in power, they tend to leave commercial entities alone so Google, MS, Amazon, FB, and Apple can continue their growth.
