This is not an awkward and embarrassing outreach to Hispanics. It's not aimed at Hispanics at all. It's aimed at white people. This is the kind of thing that Trump's base—the white working class—views as a perfectly sincere appreciation of Mexican culture. It says, "Yes, I want a wall, and yes, I want to deport all the illegal immigrants in the country. But that doesn't mean I hate Mexicans." It's basically an affirmation to Trump's voters that they aren't racists.
Plus it gets a ton of attention, and it also induces loads of mockery from overeducated PC liberals who don't understand a compliment when they see one. It's really a genius tweet.
Does everyone understand now? Trump is playing this game at a higher level than most of his critics.

Also, I think your snobbery may be showing. A maid who does a good job is a credit to whatever class with which she identifies. In a healthy society, all honest work is appreciated and honored. It is not being "patronizing," in the negative sense, to be appreciative.

Back when Shoal Creek was first hosting the PGA championship it came out that they didn’t have any black members. Sponsors were going to boycott. Protests in the streets. Etc.
So they decided they needed a Black member. But who? They decided on an old black gentleman named Joe Willie. Owned an Insurance company in B’ham. So they trotted ‘ole Joe Willie out and had a big dog and pony show. Even showed Joe out on the course. It was apparent he had never held a club. Didn’t even look like he knew which end to hold. But everything was alright with the world and the PGA tourney went off at Shoal Creek!
Before the tournament an entrepreneur decided to capitalize on the publicity. He had Tee shirts made up. On the front of the shirts was a picture of Buck Wheat. And surrounding his picture was the words: Joe Willie say’s “Shoal Creek is O’Tay!”
I still have that shirt around somewhere....
I guess TODAY it is NOT PC for the POTUS to enforce the laws of the land, YESTERDAY another report of people FLOODING over the border again!!!! These people are NOT assimilating into our communities they are WAVING their Mexican flags high protesting in our streets destroying property DEMANDING they stay and get drivers licenses and medical benefits !!!! WE as Americans CAN’T FLOOD over another nations border WE would be sent home!!!! EVERYONE KNOWS this is true YET the SCREAMING GOES ON!!!! Mr Trump Is correct on this and this should be a HUGE issue for women with children in school our schools have been TAKEN OVER by illegal immigrants!!!!

No, I’m not. I have more Mexican-American neighbors than whites, and I know darn well how THEY will view Trump’s Tweet. Maybe Trumpsters think they can win without getting anything but the angry white vote, but I hate to concede my neighbors to Hillary & the Demoncrats!
I don’t like Trump, but I want him to win against Hillary. It would help a lot if he could stop being ridiculous on Twitter.

My wife spent several years working as a maid. But she didn’t want to remain a maid forever, and most maids don’t want it as a ‘forever’ job. Hard work and the pay sucks.
