Target’s stock price and its favorability among shoppers are crashing as the public rebukes the retail giant for ignoring their vigorous protest against mixed-sex changing rooms and bathrooms.
The company’s stock was two cents shy of $84 on August 19, when it revealed it would not allow shoppers to use single-sex bathrooms or changing rooms. Instead, all rooms were opened up to anyone claiming to be of either sex. As of 4.00 p.m. Friday, the stock had dropped almost $4.50, down to $79.50.
That’s a huge loss of 5 percent in stock value, costing shareholders roughly $2.5 billion in company value.
In between those two dates, more than one million people had signed a boycott petition sponsored by the American Family Association. Public opinion also shifted strongly in favor of single-sex bathrooms.
The damage to Target’s favorability is also being tracked by YouGov’s BrandIndex service.

Target announcing they were raising their minimum wage to $10/hour on 4/18 had a much bigger impact on the stock price. Investors couldn’t care less about this other issue. Sorry.

Don’t really favor boycotts, but Target should be boycotted and made to pay a steep price. People need to start boycotting any business that caves to the threats and demands of narrow interest groups. If a few businesses pay a really steep price, the businesses will stop caving.

In any case the women have a right to be uncomfortable with men that are cut up who claim to be women but are still attracted to women using their bathrooms. Businesses have a right to listen to their women customers, to whatever extent their reactions affects the business. Men who are cut up still have sexual attractions like men. Lesbians don’t have things like glory holes through bathroom stalls, or wide stances. All that comes from men.

Someone up thread tried to compare Target to Kohl's and now you're comparing Nordstrom to Target? I don't understand the comparison unless you've never been to a Target.
People shop at Target for home supplies like detergent, dog food, groceries and dish towels. I never thought of them like a high end fashion retailer because they are not.

That is what always puzzles me about these idiotic business decisions.
The only thing I can figure is, when these retailers that absolutely depend on the good will of the general public - Target, JC Penney etal - go ahead and jump the shark anyway, it must be because their top management has been taken over by LGBTQWERTY. Nothing else makes sense.
The next shareholder’s meeting should be a real hoot.
I think the next board meeting should be fun too. Every one of them just lost millions of dollars. Oh, to be a fly on the wall.
