“Most parents want to do right by their kids, and one way they can do that is to try to live somewhere with better school options,” says Ann Owens, the study’s author and an associate professor at USC’s sociology department. “But as income inequality has increased, higher-income parents have more resources to live where they want to live, while those with lower incomes have less.”
While less pernicious than the racism that led to segregated schools and the “white flight” of the 1970s, the findings lead to a troubling conclusion: that children face greater and growing stratification in neighborhood settings than the whole population of residents. Forget who said this or where I saw it, but:
Diversity is an obstacle to overcome, not a goal to be achieved.
I was thrilled — diversity -— to have one of my sons in a school where the racial pie chart was 25% white, 25% Hispanic, 25% black, 25% Asian. But then I became very disappointed when we parents waited each day outside the classroom for the day to end. The Hispanic parents spoke Spanish to each other, the philippino parents gathered together and spoke Tagalog, the black parents found each other and preferred to chat together, and I was only able to speak with the white parents. I was ready for us all to get along, but the parents self segregated and it made me sad.

I am reminded of the desegregation of Little Rock’s Central High in 1957.
Decades later, the little colored girl in all the photos came back to give a talk to the students. She noticed the black students would put their heads on the desks and ignore what was being taught, and she came away with this realization.
She put her life on the line, so black kids could go to a white school, put their heads on the desks and refuse to learn!
Her own words were...”I went through HELL for THIS?”
I don’t know the time range it took for God to confuse the languages of the people so that the people of Babel were scattered....but I have to wonder if confusion of values became the first step. The direction this nation has become one of implosion and then scattering of the people into diverse morality/values groupings! “Except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain those who build it” has become an increasingly loud spiritual exclamation point for those in this nation who are still struggling to hear the Lord’s voice!
Now that is interesting if it was true that Heston said it....but plausible otherwise!
If Professor Owens wants to get really, really basic about this, she might look to the out-of-wedlock births, how many teenaged mothers producing babies they have no clue how to raise, generation after generation, and then sending them off to school where they don’t behave, and that impact on ‘better schools.’
What you do is to stand apart from all the parental groups...eventually some of the “stand aparts” from the other groups will surface and you can form your own diverse groupings...to the shame of the others!
I think that many of the white folks fleeing the inner city are ones who helped destroy the city with destructive liberal policies.
Not realizing that they are like a swarm of locusts, they abandon what they have wrought and move on to destroy the suburbs and rural areas.
Now that is some frightening chit right there. That’s one reason we be movin to the mountains real soon. No steenking cultural diversity up there. :-)

No, I believe abnormal hormone levels during pregnancy determine most cases of homosexuality. Not all.
a gay gene? There are genes for all manner of things. Wouldn’t surprise me if a series of genes turned on or off could cause certain behaviors and such

The whites that fled NYC weren’t the ones who destroyed it; a few race traitors took money to bust block by block, and whites had no choice but to flee.
The problem now isn’t just whites fleeing cities; they are fleeing the suburbs ringing the cities as well (and with their low birthrate won’t be around at all in a few decades). Then the gibsmedats will be blaming dead people while the downward spiral goes on and on towards the Third Worldization of the once-great United States...
That’s true; more today than ever, white parents are worried about the physical safety of their children - and they know their children will be targeted by non-whites.
