In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
DIGAMY [DIG uh mee]
hear it pronounced
noun
DIGAMY is a "second marriage." it rhymes with bigamy but is legal after a divorce, an annulment or the death of a first spouse. Johnson called it the triumph of "hope over experience."
In a Marx Brothers film Groucho, although already married, proposes to the suprisingly unflappable, or at least insufficiently outraged Margaret Dumont. "But that would be bigamy!" says she. "Big o' you?" cries Groucho, "It would be big o' me!"

That is a new word to me, but useful.
I will seek to remember it. Thank you.

Today's silliness is brought to you by a digamist. There is also
trigamy, quadrigamy, quinquigamy, sexigamy and septigamy. Any achievements beyond that are purely speculative.
Have fun. Bennies in the AM.

And then there is this:
From Duck Soup . . .
Person 1: This means war!
Person 2: Something must be done. War would mean a prohibitive increase in our taxes!
Chico: Hey I got an uncle lives in Texas.
Person 2: No I’m talking about money, dollars, taxes.
Chico: Dallas! That’s where my uncle lives. Dallas, Texas!

Yes, the painted vixen divorced the industrialist,
for a pretty penny I might add, and proceeded to
seduce and conquer the high-rise developer.
A clear case of gold digamy.

Alright, so if you had one wife, it’s monogamy. Two wives is digamy. More than one at the same time is polygamy, if they are okay with it, and it’s legal, otherwise it’s bigamy.
What if you have no wife? Is guess it’s agamy?
I’m going to confess to someone that I’m an agamist... and see what kind of shocked look I can get :)

Once a bachelor I lived happily
Then suffered through matrimony
But where love is concerned
I just never learn
And took a shot at digamy

"Im going to confess to someone that Im an agamist... and see what kind of shocked look I can get :)" It won't work. I used to try making a joke out of saying that my two favorite sports were archery and lechery.
The response would inevitably be, "Really? Archery?"

Donald Trump is a trigamist, but nobody seems to mind these days. At least, that is what the captivated media would have us believe.
8 years ago they were scandalaized at Rudy Giuliani and newt Gringich, 2 other trigamists who wre prominent in the political circus.
