The Brookings Institution reported that Barack Obama ended opium eradication efforts in Afghanistan in 2009, effectively green lighting Afghan opium production and the Afghan heroin trade. By 2010, all US efforts to eradicate Afghan opium ceased. It has been US policy to allow Afghan opium growing and the heroin trade since. US heroin deaths tripled from 3,036 in 2010 to 10,574 in 2014 as a result of the Afghan narcotics trade being green lighted by Obama during his first year in office.

Vanda Felbab-Brown at the Brookings Institution. a liberal think tank that often writes reports supporting the Obama Administration, penned "No Easy Exit: Drugs and Counternarcotics Strategies in Afghanistan" in advance of the April 19th, 2016 UN Summit on Drugs (UNgass). That, and that Crimea was overwhelmingly Russian to begin with. It’s a lot easier to take territory when the locals are all but unanimously in favor of it.

Afghanistan’s opium production was at historic lows under the Taliban. After the invasion it immediately began to pick up, and it was US policy to encourage Afghans to grow poppies for this purpose long before Obama telepromptered his way into town.

The main effect of 15 years of war in Afghanistan, it could fairly be stated, is creating the world’s most productive source of heroin.

What a schizophrenic country we live in. Heroin was never manufactured in Afghanistan before the US invaded. The Taliban had almost totally wiped out the poppy fields when a mess of water head kids spilled in with guns and orders. Paid for by people who didn’t realize they were buying infrastructure for large-scale drug-dealing to their own children, who would be destroyed.

No argument that the Obozo is pure evil but president G.W. Bush promoted the opium production when he ordered the US to invade Afghanistan thus freeing the opium farmers to do their thing. Under GW Bush, there may have been a policy addressing an opium eradication program but it was in words only (propaganda). GW Bush is just as culpable, if not more so than the obozo on this one. For once it is true; It's Bush's fault.

What Bob was referring to are changes by Bobo in the DEA rules (and adjunct moves by several states) that, quite seriously, look primarily designed to drive pill-poppers onto heroin.

Let me tell you something...when I saw Obama with a finger stuck in Fareed's "Post-American World":

I knew we were in real trouble. Bobo used the slimy trope in this book (we're really #2 and heading for #10, because 'resistance to assimilation into unemployment is futile') to justify all manner of mau mau, and certainly forcing regular people into the streets for medicine is well within the scope of his Coward-PDriven admin.

The Taliban had mostly eradicated opium production in Afghanistan. Bush and the neocons invaded. Opium production skyrocketed. Continued to rise under Obammy. Make no mistake about it, drug money makes the world go round, it corrupts everything it touches.

Exactly- this is what i meant- outlawing legal drugs practically, or making it near impossible to be on them, and greenlighting far more dangerous drugs like heroin- driving people who need prescription pain meds to street drugs- I just don’t understand the reasoning behind it all-
