Ted Cruz on Thursday criticized the backlash to North Carolina's transgender bathroom law after Republican presidential rival Donald Trump indicated he opposed the controversial measure.
"We have gone off the deep end. This is absurd," Cruz said during an interview with conservative radio host Glenn Beck, a backer of the GOP White House hopeful's campaign.
Beck asked Cruz how he'd argue that his position isn't aimed at targeting transgender people but rather at "the heterosexual pervert" who would try to flout gender-specific bathroom laws.
Cruz pointed to his two daughters, ages 5 and 8, arguing that the younger one "knows the difference between boys and girls."
"You've got the Obama Education Department suing to try to force junior highs to let teenage boys to shower with teenage girls," he later said.
"That's crazy. It's not a reasonable position," Cruz continued. "The idea that grown men would be allowed alone in a bathroom with little girls you don't need to be a behavior psychologist to realize that bad things can happen, and any prudent person wouldn't allow that."
"When you deal with people who are repulsive perverts and criminals there are some bad people in the world and we shouldn't be facilitating putting little girls alone in a bathroom with grown, adult men. That is just a bad, bad, bad idea," the Texas senator said, mentioning his experience as solicitor general in Texas handling cases of "child molesters, of pedophiles."
Trump earlier Thursday morning said North Carolina unnecessarily mandated transgender people use public restrooms that correspond to their biological gender in legislation aimed at preventing cities and counties from passing their own nondiscrimination ordinances.

I only haven question I would like someone to give an honest answer to:
How does the state enforce this law?
It says I have to use the bathroom of the sex I was when I was born (that’s fine I ain’t got a problem so far). If someone says I am not what I say I am HOW do I prove it.....I would need an authenticated birth certificate and a strip search.
Since when do I have do all of that to use a restroom? (TSA jokes not necessary)
precisely
“Beck asked Cruz how he’d argue that his position isn’t aimed at targeting transgender people but rather at “the heterosexual pervert” “
Uh....according to you guys there is no difference.
Sooooo how do you explain this in 3....2....1?
ah rational thought...so uncommon these days
We can't say what I'm going to say out there in the non-cyber world, folks would think we're crazy, but here goes. The problem has its roots in birth control taking meaning out of sexual encounters for many, abortion acceptance, a violent and pornographic "culture", acceptance of public display of perversions. Result....because perversion has become a lifestyle, it's not safe or private to pee in public restrooms.
Even if there were public rest rooms for "women" "men" and "perverts", the entitled class would still be whining.
For a problem which is an effect not a cause, it's insane for any candidate to let it affect our chance to Make America Great Again. It would be nice if Cruz would give a visionary and inspiring statement about how he'd turn things around.
“How does the state enforce this law?”
I’ve asked that multiple times.
Still have no answer.
Thank you. This is the best post today. When we look back at the turning point of this country we can say “honestly we had a great choice of Republican nominees and we ended up talking about Trump’s hands and genitals and who can use what bathroom “.
It’s over. And I’m done sending money.
“Cruz gets it, Trump doesnt
Get what? He just gave the same damn reply Trump did basically.
Did you not read this part?
“Beck asked Cruz how he’d argue that his position isn’t aimed at targeting transgender people but rather at “the heterosexual pervert” who would try to flout gender-specific bathroom laws.”
So are they one in the same or not?
If yes, then point to me where Cruz said they are. Hell he did even address women pretending to be men. If not, then there goes the Cruz kids reason to pitch a fit.
Then Ted should clarify why he dressed as a woman and went into the women’s dorm in college? He was always parading in a bathrobe in front of them too. He sure has some nerve.
People are getting all pee peed up.
I agree with you 100%.
We do however need to put our Employers and businesses in the position that they can effectively protest on behalf of their employees and patrons this danger, or perceived danger that will affect their collective businesses.
Of course, trust no one, when it comes to the safety of our families and others.
There is a difference between someone like Cher’s kid with his surgical penis and a perv taking advantage of the situation. NC law says Cher’s kid should be in the girl’s bathroom. I disagree.
Sorry but Cruz isn’t all that - Cruz said “Putin’s Russia” is violating human rights for their laws against pedophile/homosexual propaganda aimed at children & said Pussy Riot was being persecuted. Cruz is bandwagon.
Sometimes the unintended consequences are too great
I do not want to have to ‘show my papers”for the government hacks
When my daughter was young, I was paying so much attention to her that I could not have told you who else was in the rest room.
Back to the question, how would he know?
The Inquisition is alive and well and thriving on the left.
They are right. You guys don’t care what he says or believes. You know that is garbage. We have to draw a line in the sand somewhere about this immoral garbage. Good to know you guys are on the side of the liberals. We at least know where you stand. Have fun with your girls going in with guys who just “declare” they are women.
Again, how would you know it’s a man?
At first, I began to agree with your post, but then, I thought about it.
What about all those businesses, corporations, pub;ic office buildings, courthouses, restaurants, bars, etc. who would have to spend a bunch of money to upgrade their facilities? Maybe we need a businessman’s point of view, as to the effect these stupid social experiments have on our economy and our taxes.
I can’t imagine that transgenders are greater than 1/2 percent of our population. Keep bathrooms the way they are, and let the trannies use the room their equipment is designed for.
Other than that, we should be speaking up against the social groups pressuring us to accommodate their silly notions that we should meet their needs. This won’t stop until we fight back, you know.
As to what the candidates say on this? Not going to worry about it. Not worth the emotional energy.
I’ve noticed plenty. The ones you can tell. I mean come on.
Freegards
“Seems to me its bad enough with gay men and lesbians and bathrooms, especially with gay men. Thats where you get wide stances, glory holes, and predation. But now businesses cant stop a man who claims to be a woman who is attracted to women from using the womens bathroom? Come on, this isnt that hard.”
Preach it!!
