Authorities have identified a 15-year-old Ohio boy who they say was electrocuted while attempting to conduct an experiment he saw on YouTube.
An Erie County sheriff's deputy confirmed Wednesday that Morgan Wojciechowski's parents found him Tuesday in the garage of their Vermilion Township home. Chief Deputy Jared Oliver says authorities weren't sure whether the parents heard something or just went to check on their son.
Emergency crews were called and took the boy to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Well I hope you guys replaced your divots ;)
Jacob’s ladders are dangerous.
I work with high voltage regularly and we occasionally make small ball lightning (<1/2 inch diameter) when the setting on our system are off.
I’ve got an old neon light transformer from the 40’s or 50’s.I think the maker’s plate says 15kv@150ma.I‘ve never put power to the thing, should make somebody an interesting toy.
yes, current kills, voltage burns, cooks and fries. RIP young man
So should I stop working on my kitchen fissionator?
150ma at 15kv is more than enough to kill.
These days, most appliances are made with built-in GFI protection and it is standard code for outlets in a bathroom, but still I won't trust any electrical things near a bathtub.
I had a friend who did all sorts of electric arc experiments. His “shop” looked like the Frankenstein set when he lit it up! His electric arc was strong enough to mess up all TV reception for several blocks.
That was fifty three years ago.
Only if is rated at greater than 10 Gigawatts.
I had a rule when experimenting with electricity and electronics as a kid.
Nothing over what a 9V battery could put out. Never use power from the wall, even on the other side of a power brick.>>> yes but you just love the amps. I built electric chairs with screens on the seat a model t coil and a 6 volt battery two screens on the seat and a button. weeeeeeeeeeeee
Just stick a couple of acytylene welding rods on the ends of the terminals and get them close enough and you got a Jocobs Ladder.
(Use a wooden broom handle to start the arc)
I had one I would plug in out in my shop. I finally got rid of it when the cooling oil started to leak out. My kids little friends thought I was a “Mad Scientist”.
a navy electrician friend who just passed away. told stories about how he tested sockets on the ship by wetting his finger and sticking in the light socket. i think he had a high level tolerance for voltage.
Not Me! No Way! Though aboard ship, each leg of the 120 Volt circuit is 60 Volts to ground. I used to test transformers. And using an Isolation transformer, I could make bare handed live 120V connections and not feel a thing. One at a time though. Using only one hand.
I was almost killed by a 9 volt battery once. I stuck it on my aunt’s German Shepherd’s nose.
When I was in the Navy we had a yardbird working on the 30MC down in the magazine. He came up and walked slowly into the shop, sat down and shakily lit a cigarette. After a couple of drags he looked up and said, “That 440 ain’t no joke.”
“I never should have survived to adulthood.”
Same here. God’s Grace is an amazing thing.
“Began buying up jar after jar of Salt Peter and sulfur from the drug store. “
You and me both. Thought I’d hit the jackpot when I found you could buy saltpeter at the feed store for .50/lb.
LOLs’ I bet the dog let you know not to do that again.
Yep. K-Power
In the 7th grade science class, I built the plaster of paris volcano. It had a 5 pound coffee can inside I’d filled with a mix of saltpeter, sulfur and sugar. I set it off in the grass between the science wing and the cafeteria. It sounded like a volcano all right. And all the sulfur dioxide gassed everyone. First our class, then the wind sent it into all the office people that came to watch. Then the wind changed again and blew the cloud into all the open windows of the cafeteria that was serving lunch at the time. I got an A for gassing the school.
