Hell hath no fury like an angry Southern mom.
Taking away electronics is a common parental punishment, but this mother decided to take it one step further - and shoot up her children's iPhones with a rifle.
I hereby denounce the effects that social media have on my children, the mom shouts at the beginning of the video, a gun in her hand. Their disobedience and their disrespect.
With perfect aim she blows the smartphone to smithereens, as its pieces go flying into the grass.
Set it up, she orders, as the man behind the camera begins to gather the pieces on the ground.
Still recording? she asks, Yes mam,' he dutifully replies, showing viewers a cracked iPhone screen.
The mother reveals one of her children has left but then the camera shows two teens, a boy and a girl, are still here - watching as the only outlet theyve ever known to a social life disappears.
I also take back my role as parent to my children, she then yells, not quite explaining just what that would entail.
Meanwhile a boy, presumed to be one of her sons, returns to the scene and gives the middle finger to the camera.
I refuse to be cursed, the mother begins again. I refuse to be disobeyed. I take back my role as your parent.'
'Get a shot of them, she orders, as the camera pans to reveal the three angry children standing with their arms crossed, until one flips a double bird again.
She then points the gun and the camera moves to reveal that shes not about to shoot a pheasant or a bottle, but is aiming straight for an iPhone perched on a tree trunk.

Social media didn’t do anything. The shrunken computer known as the iphone didn’t do anything. Inanimate objects don’t do anything.
Teens and others can hurt themselves by their slavish attachment to any object.
Shooting the object teaches her kids that a display of anger and destruction of an object are the right thing to do.
She is really stupid.
She should have never bought them any phones. When my kids were smaller they didn’t have any phones in their rooms
I wouldn’t know, and probably neither would the author of the article.
You are correct. She should have never bought them the phones. And then she uses Social media
Who bought them the phones in the first place? Who was paying for the cellular service all this time? She could have instead of destroying the phones, turned off the cellular service or at least the data and texting services if that was the problem. She could have instead of shooting the phones and then smashing them with a sledge hammer (all the while having someone record it so it could be, rather ironically, posted to YouTube) wiped the phones clean and sold them, maybe using the money to buy her kids or herself some better clothing or some books or even donating them. Many shelters and orgs for abused women will gladly take cell phones wiped clean of data and apps and without cellular or data service as they can still be used to call 9-11 in an emergency, and thats what Ive done with all my used phones when Ive upgraded.
I agree that all she taught her kids was that doing something out of anger like shooting a gun (a complete waste of good ammo IMO) at the cell phones, having it recorded and then posting it (again quite ironically) to social media is the appropriate way to deal with conflicts or how to act responsibly.
I think she lost parental control of her kids a long time ago and this stunt isnt likely to help matters.
BTW wheres the daddy?
Some of the comments I read and had to laugh at were:
You know you're a redneck if you use a shotgun to 'delete' your kids social media accounts.
And Honey Boo Boo all grown up.
we had a christian folk singer sing a parody “imagine there’s no lennon” during the mid 1970’s
From the comments you made I would say that applies to you.
You fired off a derogatory, personal comment at me and I asked you to explain it. Not only haven't you explained it, you've been sniping and trolling ever since. You're not worth my time - you're a waste of time, in fact. Get a life.
About damned time!
DANG!
It looks like you are the only one who got the whole thing
