The former Navy SEAL who says he fired the shots that killed Osama bin Laden was arrested Friday on a drunken driving charge after police found him asleep in a car parked at a convenience store in his Montana hometown.
Customers at the store in Butte called police to report a sleeping man behind the wheel of the running car around 2:30 a.m., Butte-Silver Bow County Undersheriff George Skuletich said. The officer who responded woke the man up, identified him as Robert O'Neill and noticed odd behavior.
"He was confused. His actions were consistent with somebody who might be under the influence of something," Skuletich said.

Flying into Butte from just about anywhere adds at least 6-10 hours to your trip as Butte only has a couple of flights a day. If you fly in internationally you are talking at least 24-30 hours to get there and likely it will take 40-48 hours. I know I've done it.
The last and only night flight comes into town at about 11:30 pm.So after collecting his baggage and picking up a car from the airport lot, that doesn't charge a fee, he probably decided to go uptown to have a few because in my experience when you are home no matter how tired you wake up. Whatever bar he walked into in Butte everyone in the joint would have bought him a drink or two etc..
The bars in Montana can stay open as long as 2:00am so I'm thinking he got out of wherever he was shortly after two and quickly realized he could not drive and pulled into the Town Pump which is only a few blocks from the uptown bar district. As anyone who has flown internationally knows, the airlines give out Ambian routinely to help the passengers to sleep so its not surprising that he may have taken an Ambian.
The Sheriff in Butte is facing his first reelection bid. There is no doubt in my mind that the calculation was made how this would help his election chances, in my estimation that calculation was wrong.
Most states go by the premise if you have the key in the ignition and are behind the wheel you are in control of that vehicle. Running or not.
“The engine was running.”
Do you know how cold it is in Montana this time of year?
” being able to arrest an Ex-SEAL?”
You mean “former SEAL don’t you?
I’m sure he still considers himself a SEAL. I know I do.
Being a drunken sailor occasionally is part of the persona. I find no fault there.
Have been to the police academy too. I know it's presumed but it can still be argued depending on the situation. If running, of course it would be a slam dunk.
It only took to post 8. I'm surprised you didn't throw in something about "lyin' Ted". /s
You people kill me.
Interesting ... nothing was said about Cruz. Maybe you are hallucinating?
Rob O’Neill was on Fox News last year with strong praise for Donald Trump. Rob is known as the one that shot Bin Laden.
His DUI is a non-event that was elevated to national news, why? Who would be following a non-event like this?
Do you have a better explanation?
Butte MT, where he grew up. High on a mountain but I’m sur everyone knows him by sight at least.
I was born in a time when My father could drive home drunk almost every night and fall asleep at the wheel as soon as he got home. Next morning, look out the window, there he was.
He lives in Butte MT. Have you been there and seen their limo lineup?
I don’t believe in driving drunk. As a kid I did lots of community theater and one of the directors I worked with would drive me home - drunk as a lord - driving into oncoming traffic, onto sidewalks and generally scaring the hell of out me. Several years later, he ran down a pedestrian and died in prison. He wasn’t a bad man, just an unhappy person and a drunk. But without the aid of the Carry Nation MADDs or lowering the alcoholic intake to less than a sip of ginger beer, the community took his car keys away and put him somewhere he couldn’t injure another person.
I still think the draconian laws against minor alcoholic intake is what is increasing the hit and runs.
Oh I know, but by law, technically it was being operated. Ignition on and in gear (backup lights on).
I didn't say anything was said about Cruz. I said I was surprised there wasn't. Hallucinating? I would imagine the only reason this is getting national attention is Rob O'Neill is somewhat of a military celebrity, which would annoy the left.
Pretty sure it’s not. It is funny though
